Who we are
Keep Scotland Beautiful is your charity for Scotland’s environment.
Our vision is for a clean, green, sustainable Scotland. We work with you to help combat climate change, reduce litter and waste, and protect and enhance the places we care for. We aim to change behaviour to improve our environment, the quality of people’s lives, their wellbeing, and the places that they care for.
We support the ambitions of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Partnership
The Highland Community Waste Partnership (HCWP) is a new three-year programme funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, and coordinated by Keep Scotland Beautiful, which will be implemented in collaboration with eight partner community groups across the Highlands.
The project will seek to build collaboration across the eight partner community groups and beyond, aiming to reduce consumption and waste across the Highlands, and establishing a movement focused on more sustainable consumption, consistent with a Net Zero future.
What the role is
As our Project Officer you will facilitate and support the development and delivery of the Highland Community Waste Partnership, leading on a number of specific projects and activities, including the development and delivery of a Youth Climate Hero Programme, addressing single-use items, such as a Highland-wide cup recycling programme, reusable cup scheme pilots and a business charter. You will also contribute to the overall programme via the Delivery Group, comprising representatives from the eight partner community groups. This will include project development and management, the design and implementation of interventions, managing relationships with key stakeholders, undertaking monitoring and evaluation, and communications.
What you’ll need to have
We are looking for someone with an understanding of current environmental issues (in particular litter, plastics pollution, circular economy and/or climate change). In addition, we need you to have a good working knowledge of developing, organising and delivering large-scale projects, campaigns and/or initiatives including their budgetary and financial management.
You will have experience monitoring, evaluating and reporting on project outcomes and the ability to create, maintain and enhance working partnerships.
The post holder will require to have a full, valid UK driving licence and this post is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure Scotland (PVG) check.
Does this sound like you?
If you feel you have the elements to be our Project Officer - Highland Community Waste Partnership, we would love to hear from you.
