Connect Community Trust is a vibrant social enterprise based in the east end of Glasgow.
As part of the city-wide GECCO team, the Employer Engagement Advisor will be responsible for sourcing employment opportunities across Glasgow, to help create sustainable jobs for our clients. Liaising with SMEs and large-scale organisations across the city, focus will be on growth and buoyant sectors, meeting the needs of our clients and that of the local labour demand.
Playing a key role in Connect Community Trust’s employability provision and the city-wide GECCO partnership, you’ll be instrumental in the delivery of the organisation’s sector-specific employability programmes and supporting job-ready clients into appropriate opportunities. Working closely with employers, you will be tasked with generating vacancies and identifying opportunities wherein the project can offer free and bespoke pre-recruitment and training provision. With the support of the wider GECCO team, you will also engage in job brokering activity on behalf of our clients and be responsible for the aftercare of those you’ve helped create opportunities for.
Over the last 18 years Connect has exceeded expectations on many levels through the empowerment of local people and innovative regeneration work in the Greater Easterhouse and the east end of Glasgow. The Trust operates two community facilities within Greater Easterhouse and Re-Connect - a furniture re-use and recycling project. With over 70 weekly services, the range of support is extensive and has helped many people achieve positive outcomes for themselves and the wider community.
Glasgow Empowering Communities Co-operative (GECCO) was formed in 2016 and is a co-operative of Development Trusts across Glasgow city whose ambition is to draw together its significant community networks in the North, South, East, and West to bring a fresh approach to addressing city challenges. As Development Trusts, each of the members are community-based and focused on the local area that they are based within.
The GECCO (City) partnership team is responsible for delivering on an ESF Employability contract from Glasgow City Council and consists of partners Govanhill CDT, SWAMP, Maryhill Community Central Halls and Connect Community Trust.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
- Establish and develop new employer relationships to create job opportunities
- Sourcing vacancies for a caseload of job-ready clients through direct employer engagement
- Building a pipeline of opportunities across multiple sectors
- Job brokering
- Aftercare
- Recording and reporting on key data for funders
- Support to line managers to maximise experience and opportunities for clients
We are looking for someone with previous Employer Engagement, Employment Support or Recruitment experience who has excellent motivational and organisational skills.
