Family Group Decision Making Co-ordinators -supporting family members within the FGDM process to develop family plans.
Due to growth, opportunities have arisen to work within Barnardo's Forth Valley. We are seeking a highly motivated and committed practitioner, with the experience, skills and knowledge to support young people and families achieve the best outcomes.
For this Family Group Decision Making post, you will understand the Family Group Decisions making model and bring a range of experience in family support and mediation as well as experience of working within child protection procedures and domestic abuse.
The successful applicant will work in partnership with social workers to support families to prepare for a Family Meeting. You will be able to work flexibly to accommodate the meetings at a time available for family members. You should be able to practice creatively to prepare family members to develop their own Family Plans that address their current hopes and needs.
You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to form consistent, positive, and appropriate relationships with young people and their families. We are looking for individuals who are creative, with a strength-based, trauma informed, and solution focussed approach to working with the most vulnerable Young People/children and families in Forth Valley.
A relevant qualification in education, youth work, health, social work or social care and an understanding of children's development in relation to attachment would be desirable. Experience of working with families experiencing domestic abuse is essential and an understanding of the safe and together model is desirable.
The post holder will be required to be an essential car user. It is not essential that you have previous experience of delivering Family Group Decision Making meetings, but you would need to show commitment to complete accredited training which would be provided.
