Role

The Organisation

Scottish Women’s Aid is Scotland’s leading voluntary sector organisation working to prevent domestic abuse and promote effective policy and practice responses for women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse. We are the umbrella organisation for 34 autonomous Women’s Aid groups delivering direct services to women, children and young people across Scotland.

The Role

Scottish Women’s Aid is recruiting for the role of Safe Spaces Engagement Officer, based in our Edinburgh office with significant local and national travel. This role sits within the Safe Spaces Project Safe Spaces Locations - UK SAYS NO MORE, an initiative launched during the pandemic to increase opportunities for survivors of domestic abuse to discreetly access specialist support in physical and online safe spaces, including pharmacies and banks. Scottish Women’s Aid is partnering with Hestia’s UK Says No More, to provide quality assurance, information, support, resources and training to Scottish businesses to enable them to provide effective avenues.

What You’ll Do

Key to the role is forming effective partnerships with trusted businesses to promote project engagement and provide access to training for pharmacy and bank staff. Identifying emerging workplace development needs, you will work closely with participating businesses to gain feedback to support improvements to the delivery model, ensuring a Scottish context is given to the scope of the project including sign-posting to local Women’s Aid groups and services.

What We Need

The successful candidate will have experience of co-ordinating national outreach and public development programmes, with demonstrable involvement in assessing workplace development and training needs. It’s essential that you will have a background in delivering national projects, training, seminars conferences and events. Previous knowledge of developing e-learning and on-line training resources would be beneficial.

  • Understanding of quality assurance in relation to outreach and public engagement
  • Current working knowledge of policy and practice issues in relation to violence against women and children
