About the Roles:Access to Industry (AI) is one of 8 partners delivering the new justice National Voluntary Throughcare Programme (NVTP) which is led by Sacro. We are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate self-starter to support with the engagement of men across HMP and YOI Polmont and HMP Glenochil as they transition from custody into the community. Your aim will be to support positive outcomes for the individuals you work with.

The NVTP works with men, women and young people across Scotland. This role focusses on supporting men whilst they are serving a short term sentence or are on remand.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Delivering supportive and collaborative partnership working with the Scottish Prison Service as a key stakeholder.
• Delivering effective pre-release support and planning.
• Proactively engage with individuals throughout their journey to ensure appropriate touchpoints with the NVTP, raising awareness and encouraging engagement
• Facilitate and lead engagement sessions across the prison estate
• Conducting needs assessment for individuals.
• Establishing trusting & genuine relationships, rooted in trauma informed principles.
• Participating in multi-agency meetings.
• Completing risk assessments and adhering to safeguarding best-practice.
• Maintaining accurate and timely records on case management system.
• Maximising engagement with partners across the prison estate.
• Identifying appropriate onward referral routeways at the earliest appropriate point.

You will do this by:

• Working collaboratively with the wider AI and national partnership team to deliver relational support for people accessing the NVTP, supporting team meetings, and service improvement.
• Participating in partnership meetings to support team working and service improvement.
• Upholding high quality service standards.
• Undertaking required role training (including that provided by the NVTP, Scottish Prison Service and AI).
• Being flexible and responsive to service demand including working across cohorts and prison establishments as required.

AI Team:You will play a part in the wider team of AI through attendance at internal meetings and participation in shared services across the teams.

Health & Safety and Property Management: You will ensure a healthy and safe environment and the protection and best use of property and equipment by implementing and observing AI policies and procedures.

Other Requirements: The post holder will be expected to manage their own caseload and work with minimum supervision partly in an outreach capacity.

Taking an active leadership role, alongside the minister and congregation, we are now seeking someone with passion and experience in outreach to lead us in extending and developing our existing work, and creating fresh opportunities for making disciples.

You will bring a collaborative approach with experience of leading new initiatives and working positively with volunteers which will enable you to work with us in developing our connections in the community.

About The Role

As a Community Builder, you will be at the heart of our Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, supporting the charity’s objective to enhance reach with a focus on enabling a positive impact for members of the armed forces community facing challenges. You will do this by creating sustainable, community-led solutions that enhance their well-being. You will identify strengths within local communities, foster meaningful connections, and utilise this to create new networks and drive positive change.

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic individual who is passionate about collaboration and community-led change. If you believe in the power of strong, connected communities, this role is for you.

Working closely with Community Development Managers across regions within the UK, you will create opportunities for members of the Armed Forces community and their families to re-engage with Help for Heroes and their local community.

About You

You will have experience of working alongside communities to create the conditions for community-led change, ideally with experience of Asset-Based Community Development. You will have good organisational skills, energy and the ability to listen, build relationships, and inspire collaboration which will be essential in creating positive, lasting change.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach to celebrate community strengths and foster engagement.
• Develop and embed an ABCD-informed way of working.
• Identify ‘Connectors’ across the community and provide opportunities for them to come together regularly to exchange learning and map community assets. Facilitate gatherings that empower community members to share their strengths, co-create initiatives, and foster a sense of belonging and ownership.
• Encourage and support community-led action in response to local AFC needs/ interests through peer led/ co – designed initiatives.
• Increase awareness of challenges faced by military personnel, veterans, and their families.

We are looking for someone with:

• A Community Development qualification and/or at least 3 years' experience in community development or a similar role with transferable skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships that drive action.
• Experience working within an integrated multi-disciplinary service.
• A track record of successful collaboration with partners and stakeholders.

PLEASE NOTE:

The successful candidate will need to be based within an hour’s commute of their allocated locality and there is a requirement to travel within a 75-mile radius of this location (travel expenses covered). The successful candidate must possess a valid full UK driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes.

The successful candidate will work 35 hours a week over 5 days, including evening and weekend work as required by the company. Flexibility in working hours is necessary to ensure a total of 70 hours is covered over a 2-week period so please take this into consideration before applying.

About the Team

You will be part of a newly formed Community Development team, dedicated to embedding Asset-Based Community Development. We will amplify the strengths already present in communities, forging lasting partnerships and initiatives that empower the Armed Forces community to thrive. Together the Community Development Managers and the Community Builders will strengthen local communities using resources and networks that are readily available. You will do this to proliferate opportunities for sustainable participation and engagement alongside a multi-disciplinary team in order to support the Armed Forces Community to live well after service.

At the heart of the charity is our disabled access review website - euansguide.com - where disabled people and their friends, families and carers can find and share disabled access information. We also make tens of thousands of accessible toilets safer and run the UK’s largest and longest running Access Survey.

We have ambitious plans to grow and have secured funding for an exciting new project for which we are looking for a Review Coordinator(s).

The Role

A Review Coordinator is responsible for visiting locations around the UK and sharing their experiences of disabled access on EuansGuide.com.

Locations, venues and businesses to be visited will be those that can enable our community to travel with confidence so will focus on transport hubs and surrounding facilities such as toilets, places to eat and drink and other everyday essentials.

You will have a passion for UK travel and should expect to spend a significant portion of your time exploring new locations particularly around UK transport hubs.

You will report to the Travelling with Confidence Community Manager and work closely with other members of the Euan’s Guide team.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Generating Disabled Access Information

• Visiting and sharing your experiences of disabled access at locations around the UK on EuansGuide.com
• Community Mapping - Researching and identifying disabled access information gaps and planning how to fill them

Your day-to-day will focus on visiting places and documenting your disabled access experiences but you will also support the Community Manager with:

Community Outreach and Engagement

• Researching people and organisations to work with in geographical locations and virtual communities
• Charity and stakeholder engagement including in-person and virtual events
• Volunteer engagement and communication through in person and virtual channels
• Representing Euan’s Guide at partner events and contributing content for partner publications and communications
• Contributing to project materials including volunteer resources and marketing materials

Project Resources

• Involvement in producing organisation and volunteer resources such as handbooks, welcome kits and digital content
• Involvement in producing marketing and promotional materials
• Involvement in for ensuring materials are available in accessible formats

Project Management

Involvement in project Quarterly Catch Ups

Desirable skills:

• High levels of organisation, motivation and resourcefulness with the ability to think creatively and find solutions to opportunities and challenges
• Great communication skills, including producing content in various formats for online audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence others.

• Sharing your interest in disabled access, inclusion and equality

Desirable experience:

• Experienced explorer who is used to visiting new places and meeting new people
• Reviewer, blogger or writer who has content published on the internet or other publications.
• Managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholder groups, including volunteers, funders, charities, commercial organisations and other partners
• Personal lived experience of disability

Additional Information:

This is a new role, and we have funding for the equivalent of one full-time position but would consider two part-time roles if there were two suitable applicants.

We would like the role to start in May 2025 however we can be flexible and will discuss this with suitable candidates.

This is a two year role, with a full-time salary of £26,000 – £28,000 per year, plus National Insurance and pension contributions. If the role is part-time or a job share, the salary will be pro rata.
