Role

Working for Equate Scotland as our Training & Engagement Co-ordinator is your opportunity to contribute to making a real and sustainable difference for women studying and working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and built environment) sectors.

We are based at Craiglockhart Campus in Edinburgh and recognised as the national expert in gender equality throughout the STEM sectors; having just secured our Scottish Government funding for the next three years, we are pushing forward with our work, communicating with women, students, industry and legislators to delivery on our strategy.

Our Training & Engagement Co-ordinator will work with students and employers on a range events and projects. Running our successful Student Network and supporting our STEM champions across the university and college sector. You will also support our wider training programmes for women, employers and academia.

The Role:

Joining the team, you will develop employer and industry relationships, providing free of charge and paid for training delivery on topics such as positive action, gendered language and inclusive recruitment practices. You will support students and student champions to facilitate employability events for female students, building links with women professionals and employers.

You will also be responsible for the marketing and promotion of the Student Network using web and social media communications alongside our Communications Officer.

Who we are looking for:

You will have knowledge and awareness of the organisational and cultural barriers to women’s access, and progression in careers in STEM. Effective interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and teamworking skills are imperative, as well as excellent IT skills. We are currently working a mix of home and office working but you must have the ability and willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends for event coordination. A HNC or equivalent relevant experience is essential for this role.
