Role

Are you motivated to make a difference with an organisation that supports vulnerable young people? Are you able to create and develop engaging training materials and events that meet the needs of a wide range of individuals?

Award winning charity MCR Pathways runs a transformational secondary school mentoring and talent development programme. It supports care-experienced and other vulnerable young people experiencing disadvantage to realise their full potential through education. MCR’s programme dramatically improves educational achievement, wellbeing and post-school destinations.

As we expand our programme into new local authorities and schools around Scotland and the UK, we are looking to appoint an excellent and experienced Learning and Development Manager. This is a key role which has been created to deliver training and support to our corporate partners, volunteer mentors and our organisation.

About you:

  • You’ll be able to evidence recent and successful experience of a variety of learning approaches and training methods. You will also show a proven ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet demanding timelines.

About the Role:

Mentor CPD & accreditation development:

  • Lead on the development of mentor training programmes and materials across ‘core, intermediate and advanced’ courses, utilising previous research and course content.
  • Lead on the development of structured CPD options and an MCR accredited framework. Continually review impact, feedback surveys and general mentoring materials for further development.

Delivery of mentor training:

  • Lead on delivery of mentor training for all staff and train the trainer processes required across the country in direct support of mentor recruitment and corporate engagement.
  • Engaging business and building partnerships:
  • Continually work with partner organisations to identify future employee CPD needs that could be met and delivered through mentoring

MCR young people tell their stories far better than us. Hear them in their own words in these short films of young people who have participated in the programme, reflecting on how mentoring has helped them create better futures for themselves:
