Support in Mind Scotland have an exciting opportunity in the Fundraising Department for someone with passion and enthusiasm for helping organisations to grow and develop to use their skills and experience in all types of fundraising to help us make a difference to the lives of people right across Scotland.
In this newly created position role, you will lead a small team to develop new funding streams, and connect with new partners and donors to generate income to sustain and develop our suite of services and projects across the country. You will take a lead role on researching and writing larger bids that will extend our reach into new communities and reach more people who need our support.
Working alongside our Public Affairs and Communications Team the role will offer you an opportunity to be involved in our wider policy and communications’ work, ensuring that we raise funds for work based on lived experience evidence, and that you have a role in helping us to empower people with mental health issues and their families to live a better quality of life.
In this role you will develop plans and strategies and manage relationships with our key external partners, as well as writing high quality funding bids. You will line manage our Community Partnerships Officer and work closely with them to ensure that the systems and processes we use are up to date and fit for purpose. You will have regular contact with our teams across Scotland to ensure we integrate national and local funding needs; and also work with our communications’ team to ensure the profile and reputation of SiMS is protected.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be educated to at least SVQ4 level and a sound understanding of fundraising theory and practice. You will have at least 3 years’ experience in a fundraising role, and able to demonstrate success across the range of funding activities, but with a specific expertise in writing large bids.
You will have experience of supervising colleagues, and be someone who is able to motivate and inspire people to follow your leadership. You will be an excellent communicator with high quality IT skills. Whilst you will not need to have worked in the mental health sector, an understanding of mental health issues and the impact that living with poor mental health has on individuals and families is essential.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and the charity. This post is for 35 hours a week; but hours of work can be adjusted for the suitable candidate. We will also consider compressed hours, early/late start as well as hybrid options and part time homeworking.
