An exciting opportunity for an innovative qualified clinical/counselling psychologist with an interest in co-existing mental health and alcohol and drug misuse.
The Service
Launched in 2020, WDP Greenwich is a fully integrated substance misuse service, providing clinical and psychosocial interventions, operating from a main treatment hub in Woolwich. The team actively promotes recovery and works with individuals that are directly and indirectly affected by substance misuse, working with the local community to improve the health, wellbeing and functioning of Greenwich residents, irrespective of circumstance.
The Role
The Consultant clinical or counselling psychologist will play an integral role in delivering and developing a trauma informed and psychologically informed integrated substance misuse service for the London Borough of Greenwich. We are looking for someone who is HCPC registered to support the delivery and leadership of a community substance misuse service in a dynamic environment.
We are seeking applicants with experience of a range of presenting needs who can formulate complexity and is able to work effectively within and MDT setting. If you have experience of working with personality disorder, psychosis, or complex conditions in community, forensic or low secure settings we would be interested in hearing from you.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
• Delivery of evidence-based assessment and interventions for individuals with co-existing mental health and substance misuse difficulties.
• Providing advice, training, and consultation on service users’ psychological care to support non-psychologist colleagues (substance misuse recovery practitioners) who deliver WDP’s core substance misuse psychosocial treatment pathways to provide effective psychologically informed and evidence-based interventions.
• Establishing, developing and maintaining effective pathways and joint working with wider services including community mental health teams, criminal justice partners, and social services, supporting colleagues to maximise the efficacy of these partnerships by effectively communicating the multiple complexities and needs of WDP’s service users and how these other services can support joined-up care planning to improve outcomes.
• To deliver group clinical supervision to practitioners within the service.
• Where appropriate, to develop links that can offer placements within WDP to trainee psychologists and provide them with supervision.
• To contribute to the development of WDP’s core model: principles and theories, common factors, tools and techniques, and modes of delivery.
• To utilise empirical research skills for audit, policy, service development, and evaluation of interventions.
• To be able to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the organisation’s policies and procedures.
Conditions
• You must have appropriate UK professional registration (HCPC)
• Salary band of £68,000-£75,000 per annum (pro rated)
• 22.5 hours per week
Location
The role is based at the WDP Greenwich, but at times may involve travel to external meetings and satellites within the borough, and to other WDP locations as needed.
