Role
Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Care is a local charity that supports children and young people with essentials, through four core services: a baby bank; clothing bank; hygiene bank; and school uniform bank.
Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Care was established in 2016, and we have supported thousands of families over the last seven years. In 2022 alone, we supported 1712 children and young people with essentials. We operate a referral system; working closely with partners such as health visitors, social workers and other charities to get support to where it is needed. We also undertake outreach work in our community, and we work closely with local schools and family learning centres.
Over the past year, we have become an employer and we now have a small staff team, working alongside our Board of Trustees and volunteers to deliver our vital service.
We are currently recruiting for a new Chairperson, to guide the future success and development of our charity.
We are looking for someone with the following knowledge and experience:
1.Previous experience as a Chairperson.
2.Knowledge of charity law and governance.
3.Experience of external representation, delivering presentations and managing stakeholders.
4.Experience of chairing meetings and events.
Board meetings are bi-monthly, and all trustees are expected to volunteer a few hours each month to support the work of our charity.

About the role
As the Registered Manager, you will be an experienced leader leading a team working with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives e.g. keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.
As the Registered Manager you will:
- Maintain the continuing relevance of services to individuals’ needs and purchaser requirements by ongoing planning, monitoring and evaluation.
- Oversee the financial aspects of the service, managing significant budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and making financial decisions.
- Where a need or an opportunity is identified, lead on the development of new services, support business growth and maintain reputational excellence.
- Comply with governance, law and legislation including local authority compliance, Care Inspectorate (at level 5 and above), SSSC and safeguarding procedures.
- Support the senior management team in the streamlining, promotion and monitoring of quality assurance systems which meets the needs of individual services as well as the overall service delivery in the region.
- Develop, monitor and implement supervision and appraisal systems for staff.
About You
You will have passion and drive to take forward a well-established Service and Team. Be passionate; and committed to the overall aims and objectives of the service and have the belief that people can live fulfilling lives with the right support in place.
You should also have:
- Experience of working with vulnerable people and leading a service delivery team, including managing the provision of a safe operating environment in a relevant context.
- The ability to negotiate with a wide range of internal and external partners and build positive relationships including local authorities and housing associations.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise your own time and workload to meet a number of different and competing tasks in sometimes pressurised environment.
- Social Service and Health Care at level 9 (SCQF) or other speciality/qualification recognised by the SSSC for registration purposes as well as a relevant management qualification.

Job Description
We are looking for a driven, dynamic & compassionate individual to lead our East Dunbartonshire Young People & Family Service. Our service provides free, confidential support to Young People and Families who are affected by their own or a loved ones substance use. We deliver a wide range of interventions including one to one support sessions, structured group-work, wellbeing activities. We can also provide in-house Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
You will strive to work collaboratively with partners and local communities, ensuring that we are as accessible as possible and that we deliver trauma informed support with the principles of a Recovery Oriented System of Care at the heart of all that we do. You will lead your team, providing development and clear direction aligned with the organisational aims and be a strong advocate for WithYou externally, maintaining and building our profile as you go. An SVQ Level 4 in Social Services and Health care & driving licence would be desirable for this post.
This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week between Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm, with some evening and weekend flexibility as required. The salary for this position is £29,272.60 per annum.

Essential Skills
The most important thing you can bring to this role is clear and inspirational leadership. We’re open to discussions with candidates working in leadership roles outside of the drug and alcohol arena - for example, in mental health or housing. We’re most interested in your ability to demonstrate motivational leadership skills, with the drive to promote staff development and retention. You’ll have the support of a Head of Service Delivery and a wider team of experienced and dedicated stakeholders across the organisation.
If you have experience managing comparable services, as either an established manager or in a team leader or similar capacity and you are looking for the next step up in your career, we would welcome your application.
You should have:
- Experience in drug and alcohol support services, or in an equivalent social care setting
- A proven track record of managing and supervising others
- Experience working with vulnerable people (Young People and Adults)
- SVQ Level 4 in Social Services and Health care (or be willing to complete this)
- Experience of partnership working and within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience of working within community based services
- Ability to develop and lead a cohesive team
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to quickly establish credibility and/or make a positive impact
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
