Changeworks has over 35 years’ experience in delivering high impact solutions for low-carbon living. We work collaboratively with partners, organisations and householders to drive transformation in energy efficiency and to tackle fuel poverty. An exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Consultant has come up in our busy and growing consultancy team, to cover a maternity leave.
About you
You will have a demonstrable track record of managing data-informed projects with a high level of knowledge about data analysis and data management. You will be experienced in using tools such as GIS systems and R and RStudio. Familiarity with environmental and housing datasets, and in designing databases, is a bonus.
We are particularly looking for a person who likes being a ‘data specialist’ in a non-data environment. You are enthusiastic and will enjoy learning more about the energy efficiency and low carbon sector and help Changeworks deliver its ambitious decarbonisation goals.
The Role
This role is based within our Consultancy Team and will report to the Principal Consultant. Our busy Consultancy team works across the sustainability agenda and has a particular specialism related to energy efficiency, heat decarbonisation and renewables in the built environment, fuel poverty and pro-environmental behaviour change. You will work across a diversity of Changeworks projects and with external clients from different sectors.
You will draw on a range of experience to manage a team of three (two data analysts and a data consultant) and help them deliver data-informed projects using a variety of tools (e.g. R programming, GIS software). You will help clients to manage the necessary data sharing agreements, contracts, and permissions, to ensure a smooth flow and transfer of data between parties. You will support our Monitoring and Impact Evaluation team to design studies that capture and analyse monitoring data (e.g. solar energy production, room temperature) from projects Changeworks delivers, and help the data team communicate analysis results to a wide audience with graphs and maps using data visualisation principles.
Benefits
Changeworks is a great place to work. We hold Investors in People Platinum accreditation (something only a few organisations in Scotland have), and we were nominated for employer of the year by the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce this year. Our staff overwhelmingly would recommend us as an employer too.
The Climate Emergency has resulted in ambitious national targets to reduce carbon emissions from the built environment and reduce rates of fuel poverty. This has driven a significant increase in the number of pilot and large-scale interventions delivered by Changeworks and external organisations in this area. These include area-based domestic energy efficiency retrofit and decarbonisation projects and programmes.
We are a growing organisation, and this role is crucial to the delivery of our ambitious objectives. We want to decarbonise homes in Scotland on a massive scale, and that needs talented individuals like you to help us deliver on our objectives. You’ll receive full training plus coaching and mentoring.
We offer a wide range of staff benefits including flexible working, bike to work scheme, an excellent pension scheme and 26 days paid holiday plus 9 public holidays per year. At Changeworks, we welcome and encourage applications from everyone.
