We’re looking for friendly and enthusiastic individuals with excellent people skills to join our Local Volunteering Gateways project, supporting and developing a variety of activities and volunteering opportunities in the community, to improve social connections and enable people to enhance their lives and their communities.
You will encourage and support people from a variety of different backgrounds, some of whom may face barriers to participation. This role will suit people who are creative, enjoy innovating and who have a strong belief in person-centered working. The ability to build partnerships and to quickly put people at ease is essential.
The Project
Working with local partners in each of the city’s four localities, our Volunteering and Community Development Officers will develop a holistic programme of gateway opportunities, formal volunteering opportunities and capacity building for Volunteer Involving Organisations, directly tackling exclusion and inequality of opportunity.
Working hours and locations
Four part-time roles are available, one in each locality. You can apply to work part-time (21 hours) covering one area or full-time (35 hours) covering two locality areas. While we will consider any preference you might have for working in a particular area of Edinburgh, decisions on location will be determined by operational needs.
Successful candidates will primarily be based in their assigned area, building strong partnerships and attending external events to promote volunteering and Volunteer Edinburgh’s services. You will also work collaboratively with colleagues in other localities and across the organization, including supporting city-wide Volunteer Edinburgh events.
Volunteer Edinburgh actively encourages applications from candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and lived experiences, including people newly joining or returning to the workforce.
An application pack is available for download below.
To apply, please complete the application form and self-declaration form and return them to us by the closing date.
Closing Date: 9am on Monday 17th April.
Interviews take place week commencing 24th April.
