Role
EARS is an independent advocacy provider – our role is to make sure people’s voices are heard when there are issues in their lives.
Work undertaken for this post will be in the West Lothian community, with the office also based in West Lothian.
We especially welcome applications from people with some experience of providing advocacy and/or experience of working with people with a disability and/or experience of the Health and Social Care Sector.

We provide services in the areas of physical and learning disabilities, autism, young people and older people. Further services include supporting positive mental health and wellbeing, homelessness, and drug and alcohol recovery. We work in people’s homes, in the community, and in temporary and supported accommodation.
The Service
We have positions in three of our services in the following areas of Edinburgh - Leith, Tollcross and Bruntsfield. We support individuals who are homeless and most likely have experienced some level of trauma, exclusion, and stigma in their life.
The Job
As a service we provide emotional and practical support with a harm reduction ethos. You will offer support to individuals to develop and maintain independent living skills.

As the Executive Officer at Forth Valley Advocacy you will join us at an exciting time in our development as we continue to deliver a recently extended contract for Independent Advocacy services in the Forth Valley area, currently extended until October 2024 with the option of extension to October 2025. This is a crucial post which will allow Forth Valley Advocacy to continue to provide high quality and person led Independent Advocacy services across the Forth Valley area.
As the Executive Officer, you will manage a team of energetic and enthusiastic Advocacy Workers, Team leader and Service Adminstrator. You will build strong partnerships with our funders, our referrers, external organisation, local communities and our colleagues in the NHS and Local Authorities. You will be the public face of Forth Valley Advocacy.
You will report and be accountable to the Chair and the Board of Trustees.
You will bring enthusiasm and leadership skills to the organisation during this exciting period of growth.
At present our office base is in Falkirk but hybrid working arrangements are in place, allowing for some working from home.

Social Work Scotland is the professional body for social work managers and leaders. We are a membership organisation with over 350 individual and corporate members. We exist to promote and support the development of the social work profession, and to inform, influence and improve public policy and public services.
We are excited to be appointing a Communications and Events Manager to communicate and showcase the work we do and to highlight the issues we are concerned about. Through this post we aim to ensure Social Work Scotland’s members understand how to get involved in our activities, and are informed about what we are doing on their behalf. The role will also make sure the work we do, and our positions on key issues, are highlighted to our partners and the wider public.
We are looking for an experienced, confident individual who is at ease communicating across all mediums (with a particular emphasis on digital media, specifically producing content and running social media accounts). You’ll have experience of engaging with the news and specialist media, and of shaping, organising and running events.
You’ll need to be highly organised and share the values and principles of a social work organisation, as well as feel confident to suggest new and better ways of working. We are a small dynamic team and you’ll need to have a flexible attitude to your work as we seek to provide the best service to our members.
