Role
We are looking for a Community Engagement Officer to deliver capacity-building development support services to all service users and encourage and empower inclusivity within Mental Health support services specifically for BAME, LGBTQ+ and other minority community groups.

This is a new role within the organisation for an individual to grow and build upon as they progress and make their own.
The Community Engagement Officer will be a passionate individual who wants create communities that inclusively support the mental health needs of each Child and Young Person no matter their race, culture, background. The role will initially start off with the purpose of capacity build and engage with individuals to identify the needs and barriers faced by minority groups to better support such ones and make services more accessible.
How will you make a difference:
- Maintain up to date knowledge of best practice in voluntary and community development and engagement sector activity.
- Maintain statistics in respect of the development support provided and provide reports as and when requested.
- Work actively to achieve the targets in The Miracle Foundation SCIO Business Plan
- Engage in the monitoring and evaluation procedures laid down by the Miracle Foundation SCIO
- Comply with the policies and procedures set by the Miracle Foundation SCIO.
- Provide organisation and project development and business planning.
- Work within legal structures and charity status
- Comply with all applicable regulations.
- Undertake Community engagement, surveys, and action plans (geographical communities and communities of interest).
- Develop networks and arranging activities/events for networking, socialising, and support within minority community groups.
- Disseminate information as appropriate.
- Attend a range of partnership meetings in respect to the local areas and communities.
We are looking for an individual who has:
- Relevant educational qualifications and/or significant experience particular in Community Development and Engagement or something similar.
- An understanding of the Third Sector and the environment in which it operates (including charity regulations and good governance).
- Ability to engage with volunteers and staff in the Third Sector and Public Sector.
- Ability to produce written reports.
- Ability and track record of establishing and maintaining effective, informal networking and multi-agency working.
- Ability to organise and manage events and activities within networking groups and the community for service users.
- IT literate with good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office applications and online databases.
- Knowledge and experience of planning, target setting, monitoring and evaluation.
- Able to work independently and pro-actively with a minimum level of supervision.
- Good time management
- A driving licence and access to a car.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Midlothian Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Team as a Development Worker.
Midlothian Access Point is dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of individuals aged 18 to 65 who are registered with a GP in Midlothian. We provide a range of services including information, advice, referrals, and support to help our clients access the resources they need.
Within this role, you will be responsible for delivering individual assessments for the Midlothian Access Point. You will be required to deliver a set amount of individual assessments each week either in person, telephone or online.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for facilitating, developing, and delivering Guided Self Help sessions. Guided Self-Help is a one-to-one support service that guides people to access self-help materials. Sessions are delivered in person, online or over the phone. The service is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Counselling (IPC) and is for anyone aged 18 and over experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression, stress or sleep problems.
They will work collaboratively with communities to provide tailored support, connect individuals to appropriate resources, and maintain a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to meet the needs of vulnerable groups.

Role Overview
The Charity Manager will lead the day-to-day operations of Common Wheel, ensuring the effective delivery of programmes, sound financial management, communications as well as contributing to successful fundraising. With an annual income of between £250,000 and £300,000, the charity is at a pivotal stage of growth and impact. The Manager will play a key role in shaping strategy, managing the team, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage a small team of 7-10 staff, a pool of freelance practitioners and a team of volunteers.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing organisational culture.
- Work closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement strategic plans.
Programme Delivery
- Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of all programmes and services, such as build-your-own-bike workshops, climbing, art, music and others.
- Ensure programmes align with the charity’s mission and deliver measurable impact to participants.
- Monitor performance and report on outcomes to funders and trustees.
Fundraising & Income Generation
- Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to sustain and grow income.
- Cultivate relationships with funders, grant-makers, corporate partners, referrers and community supporters.

Finance & Governance

Essential
- Proven experience in charity management or a leadership role in an equivalent organisation.

MHAP is one of the longest-running independent advocacy organisations in Scotland, and we are now recruiting a new team member to help expand our individual and collective advocacy services for people experiencing mental health challenges and/or addiction issues.
We provide advocacy support to adults aged 18–65 who live in West Lothian or are receiving treatment here. Our work takes place in a range of settings, including St John’s Hospital, HMP Addiewell, and various community locations, as well as home visits when required.
Individual advocacy involves working alongside people on a one-to-one basis to ensure their voices are heard and respected. We support individuals to understand their rights, make informed decisions, and have meaningful influence over matters that affect their lives.
Collective advocacy involves working with groups of people with lived experience to explore shared concerns, identify common themes, and influence service development, policy, and decision-making at a wider level.
This is a varied and rewarding role that can make a real difference in the lives of people who may otherwise be marginalised.
