Children and Young people's Support Worker

  • 17.5 hours a week, mornings. Permanent, initially for 12 months with extension dependent on continued funding being secured. £12654.06 plus flat rate payment for on-call.
  • Holidays – 43 days of which 9, including 6 Public Holidays, are fixed. 3% pension contribution. It is expected that a significant proportion of annual leave will normally be taken during school holidays.

Role

To provide support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse in the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth area. The posts are based in our office in central Cumbernauld and the postholders will deliver support in local primary and secondary schools and in the community.

17.5 hours a week, mornings 9 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. Monday – Friday

Evenings and weekends as required to provide on-call support to women in our refuge accommodation. An additional payment is made for this.

About North Lanarkshire Women’s Aid

NLWA is a feminist organisation working for women, children and young people who are or have experienced domestic abuse. We provide information, support, and safe, confidential accommodation to women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. The nature of our work requires a commitment to the values and ethos of Women's Aid.

The successful applicants will undertake the initial assessment of children and young people referred to our service and implement and monitor appropriate support plans liaising closely with other members of the NLWA team, school staff and other professionals as required.

The successful applicants will have at least SVQ Level III or equivalent level of qualification in childcare or other relevant subject, or equivalent experience and willingness to work towards a qualification at their own expense and in their own time. They will be able to demonstrate a high degree of motivation and have the ability to work as part of a team as well as flexible hours to suit the needs of families. They will also have a passion for improving the lives of families who have experienced abuse.

Membership of the PVG Scheme for both Vulnerable Adults and Children is a requirement for this post.

This post is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund until mid 2024. The initial contract is for 12 months from the date of appointment with any extension dependent on continued funding being secured.
