Role

South East Scotland – National Financial Wellbeing Team

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our South East Scotland Services, as well as our National Financial wellbeing team. It is expected that you will be situated within our Family Wellbeing base in Dalkeith, though also working on an outreach basis to deliver debt and money advice and support to Children 1st families including our Edinburgh services. All financial wellbeing workers support our National service offering digital and remote advice to all families across Scotland.

Our services in the east of Scotland work alongside families to address the challenges and risks which may have led to vulnerability, promote connection to their local communities, and improve financial stability and resilience. Our aim is to support communities to become more resilient and a place where children feel safe, valued, understood and supported.

The Financial wellbeing Advisor will work within an integrated model of family support, community connection, and expert money and debt advice. This will enable families to resolve debt and money problems, become more financially resilient and break the cycle of poverty.

You will work as part of the Family Wellbeing team, as well as part of our National Financial wellbeing team. You will support families within their homes, deliver workshops within the community and in schools, and offer drop-in sessions within the community. Within Midlothian this will include offering drop-in support and advice to families in partnership with the Food Facts and Friends Community Hub in Penicuik.

Ideally you will have 3 years’ experience of promoting welfare rights, income maximization and/or money and debt advice to families. You will be someone who has compassion and an understanding of the impact trauma and adversity can have on children and families and believe that you can apply this to your practice. If you have these qualities and experience, we want to hear from you.

This is a fixed term, full time of 35 hours per week. Funded initially until the 31 March 2024. Hours to be worked flexibly to suit the needs of families, including evenings and weekends as required.
