Role
Visionary is the UK wide membership organisation for local sight loss charities. Collectively, Visionary members reach 225,000 blind and partially sighted people and spend over £106,000,000 to deliver much needed, front-line services. The Visionary ethos is based on sharing and connecting to inspire and influence the development of responsive and person-centred services.
In addition to looking for people with lived experience of visual impairment, our recent skills audit identified that we need trustees with experience and knowledge of financial management, income generation, entrepreneurship, and innovation. As we are a UK wide organisation, we want to ensure all countries are represented on our board – at the moment, we are actively seeking at least one trustee who has knowledge and understanding of Scottish issues. All Visionary trustees are expected to have a good understanding of what good and effective governance is.
We know that our board is underrepresented by women, young people, and people from the LGBTQI+ and BAME communities and we want to change that.
Being a Visionary trustee is a voluntary role, however we do pay all reasonable costs incurred as part of the role. We need you to actively participate in four board meetings each year (3 online, one face to face). We want you to be involved with our strategic development and we estimate this will take about 20 hours of your time each year in addition to the meetings.

Trustee Recruitment
Articulate is looking to recruit new Trustees to support the development of the charity's strategic direction, quality assurance, risk management, fund-raising and good governance in line with our ambitious ten-year plan.
We would like to hear from any interested individuals who have the time and commitment to support our activities. In particular, we seek younger applicants and people with care experienced backgrounds and/or with education, human resources, mental health, IT or capital fundraising knowledge.
We would particularly benefit from input by people with lived experience of the care system and we'd also benefit hugely from the guidance of a Trustee from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background*. ACT is committed to diversity and inclusion but at present, we have no Trustees of colour. We are very keen to address this deficit and welcome applicants from ethnically diverse communities.
* We acknowledge that these terms are far from perfect and are following conversations closely in the sector.

Marketing and PR Experience: ESCA aims to expand its reach and impact. We need a marketing and PR expert who can help us develop and execute effective strategies to raise awareness and support.

What to Expect at ESCA:
Board Meetings: Trustees typically commit to attending monthly in-person board meetings. These meetings provide a forum for strategic discussions, decision-making, and updates from our students.
Communication Commitments: Alongside Board meetings, trustees will be expected to engage in document reviews and correspondence, ensuring effective communication and preparation for upcoming meetings and ESCA activities.
Event Participation: Depending on your availability and interests, you may choose to participate in ESCA events, engaging with the community and supporting our initiatives.
Langside Parish Church/ Finn’s Place, Battlefield Road, is looking to recruit a part time Caretaker/Cleaner to assist in the daily operation of the building and provide support to its congregation and visitors. This is a permanent role of minimum 16 hours per week, 4 evenings per week (Mon-Thur.). These hours are annualised and so more maybe needed over the winter months. Some flexibility in working hours will be required, including the availability to work some daytime and weekends.
There are no formal requirements for qualifications or experience. However, experience in a customer facing role would be advantageous.
The following presents an outline of the main duties of Caretaker:
- Opening and closing the building as necessary, ensuring the security of the premises is maintained at all times.
- Providing front of house support when the church is open to visitors or when tradespeople etc visit the premises, including answering the phone and taking messages.
- Preparation for services, meetings and events held by the congregation, FP/LPC or third parties.
- Tidying and cleaning the premises after events.
- Small maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, setting the heating etc.
- Cleaning as detailed in the schedule, including picking up litter in the garden.
- Replenishment of consumable products, such as toilet roll, hand soap, washing up liquid etc.
- Supporting Sessional staff & event leaders to ensure success of activities.
- Reporting of any damage to the building and its contents/equipment, or issues with the utilities, to the Manager of Finns Place.
- Such additional duties as may reasonably be requested by the employer.

As a member of our Board, you will be instrumental in guiding the strategic future of the charity and ensuring exemplary governance and fiscal control. The main Board meets four times a year and board members will be expected to be a member of one of the sub committees. You will also act as a local ambassador for Cornerstone.
We are particularly keen to hear from those with skills, knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas who feel they can make a positive contribution to our charitable activities: -
Management experience in social care quality standards, compliance, commissioning and / or procurement
Senior management experience in the social work / social care sector preferably with strategic planning skills
Accountancy/financial experience preferably at management level
Personal experience of providing care and support of a relative or carer of a person who has experience of care
