Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. We have represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for almost 100 years. Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.

About the Role
At SAMH, we pride ourselves on the high quality of our support services across Scotland, and as we roll out our new organisational strategy, we are looking to recruit to the role of Senior Service Manager. These roles will lead our services to continue to build on their success and shape new developments and innovation across the organisation.
With overall responsibility for high quality delivery across a range of internal and external standards, and delivery across a number of social care services, within one of the geographic locations above, you’ll demonstrate your energy, drive, leadership and enthusiasm for excellence in mental health support and social care.
What we are looking for
An accomplished communicator, you will have instant credibility when engaging with both internal and external stakeholders and local partnerships and your experience as a senior manager, will enable you to lead, develop, and support and guide your service managers to build positive and effective environments and deliver outstanding quality services.
Experience and knowledge of the Social Care sector is preferred but not essential.

The Director of Services is both a strategic and operational role in a high growth and high impact organisation. They will line manage our area managers across the country providing them with the support and development they need. They will help lead our ‘improving quality agenda’ by working with teams across the organisation to provide better processes and monitoring them to cohere our services together, better demonstrate our impact and grow our reach.
This is a senior leadership role and you will report directly into the CEO and lead the Services directorate. This is a critical post that will help us to support more people in different and better ways, who can both support service managers operationally where needed but has an eye on the strategic picture and can help turn that into a reality.
Key Responsibilities:
- To line manage and lead our local area and national service managers to deliver brilliant services, generate and take advantage of opportunities and work with other divisions for the benefit of the charity as a whole
- To ensure the delivery of our strategic priorities as directed by the CEO including but not limited to our strategy and the roll out and delivery of our CRM and Quality Assurance Framework
- To develop and work in partnership with a range of different stakeholders in order to increase our impact, generate new opportunities for the organisation and raise awareness. For example, with HSCPs, commissioners and funders alongside the Director of Fundraising and Business Development
- To represent the organisation externally in a professional manner
- Support fundraising in identifying opportunities, writing bids and creating tenders as well as creating engagement opportunities for funders to ensure we have the resources we need to deliver the services that are required
- To ensure that all services maintain compliance with our mission, vision, values, policy and procedures, Care inspectorate, legislative and Government requirements and are sustainable. To make sure our services are safe and act as a designated safeguarding lead
- To contribute as part of the senior leadership of the organisation, lending your support, opinion and knowledge to organisation wide challenges and demonstrating organisation wide leadership

What I do and what I achieve
• Oversee the safe and efficient operational delivery, practice, and development of services in the North of Scotland, including the Highlands and Aberdeenshire
• Lead, support and motivate the team in your specific areas to ensure high quality person-centred service delivery
• Provide strategic leadership for the services in my area and contribute to the strategic development of services nationally as a member of the National Management Team
• Be an active member of the National Management Team and contribute to the implementation of Change Mental Health’s vision, mission, values and strategy
Financial and supervisory responsibility
• Set, manage and oversee local budgets in consultation with the Deputy Director: National Services, Director of Services and the Head of Finance
• Ensure local value for money in the delivery of high-quality services
• Build relationships with key stakeholders to successfully facilitate budget conversations
• Line Manage staff, as required, to ensure the successful delivery of services in specific areas of Scotland

• Includes some evening and weekend working where required, time off in lieu will be given in accordance with Change Mental Health’s TOIL policy

Our new Assistant Manager will be responsible for ensuring smooth delivery of Lifelink’s day to day operations. This will include scheduling and managing people and facilities to ensure they are available and ready to meet the needs of our clients. They will support and performance manage a team of staff, develop and maintain local partnerships, deliver corporate training and community-based workshops and contribute to service delivery and development, amongst other activities.
This is a busy and demanding role with a lot of variety. As such we are looking for energetic, positive, solution focused individuals who have experience in these areas. We expect you to take our local services to the next level by providing excellent local leadership and ensuring our services remain at the leading edge, whilst meeting the needs of our service users, our business partners and our business.
You must have:
- Demonstrable experience of managing staff and service delivery
- A clear understanding of distress, anxiety, stress and mental health issues and the challenges these present to service users
- Educated to degree level/professional qualification in a supervisory or management field (or evidence of equivalent work experience and willingness to undertake ongoing CPD)
- Excellent IT skills and be comfortable with use of mobile technology
- A valid driving licence and access to own vehicle
Ideally you will have:
- Experience of overseeing confidential one to one client support services
- Experience of providing staff training / coaching to improve service outcomes and quality
- Experience of monitoring and reporting around resources and service delivery outputs
