Role

Urban Roots is an environmental and health improvement organisation working across the Southside of Glasgow. Over the past 12 years we have worked with local residents and organisations on a wide range of food growing and cooking projects. We are passionate about the benefits that community growing, cooking and eating together bring to promoting community cohesion and supporting the health and well-being of people of all ages and backgrounds.

Role

The Project Coordinator will develop a programme of gardening, food and cookery related activities in Priesthill, Househillwood and other areas in the South West of Glasgow, including Carnwadric.

The programme will include healthy eating and cooking workshops, community meals, community growing activities and running children’s outdoor activities. The post holder will work with partner organisations to explore options for increasing access to free or low cost fresh fruit and vegetables in community venues and supporting dignified access to healthy food for people experiencing food insecurity. The role will also include development of training, volunteering and mentoring programmes with local residents.
