Role

Looking for a rewarding career where you make a real difference and help tackle the climate change emergency? If you are a dynamic person able to advise and motivate businesses, then we need you!

We are seeking an Energy Efficiency Business Advisor to provide advice and tailored plans providing a clear pathway for businesses to make savings. The work you do will go a long way to help businesses tackle the climate emergency and support them in the current energy crisis.

You’ll be visiting businesses and using your flair as a networker to build effective relationships. You’ll be a strong communicator and use your background in giving advice to motivate businesses and other organisations to save energy and provide them with tangible cost savings to increase their sustainability.

Part of your role will involve building up a network of businesses for the service to engage with and make referrals from. You’ll also need to have a thirst for knowledge and be proactive with keeping up to date with sustainability issues, new technologies, and the challenges faced by businesses.

A knowledge of energy, materials, waste, and water efficiency will be essential to the role. Any experience you might have in project management would also be desirable for this role.

Business Energy Scotland is a free, impartial support service to help businesses and other organisations in Scotland save, energy, carbon, and money. It is managed by the Energy Saving Trust and you will be employed by Changeworks, who deliver the contract for them. You’ll also work with the Home Energy Scotland advice centre based at Changeworks in Edinburgh.

Benefits

Changeworks is a great place to work. We hold Investors in People Platinum accreditation (something only a few organisations in Scotland have), and we were nominated for employer of the year by the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce this year. Our staff overwhelmingly would recommend us as an employer too.

The Climate Emergency has resulted in ambitious national targets to reduce carbon emissions from the built environment and reduce rates of fuel poverty. This has driven a significant increase in the number of pilot and large-scale interventions delivered by Changeworks and external organisations in this area. These include area-based domestic energy efficiency retrofit and decarbonisation projects and programmes.

We are a growing organisation, and this role is crucial to the delivery of our ambitious objectives. We want to decarbonise homes in Scotland on a massive scale, and that needs talented individuals like you to help us deliver on our objectives. You’ll receive full training plus coaching and mentoring.

We offer a wide range of staff benefits including flexible working, bike to work scheme, an excellent pension scheme and 26 days paid holiday plus 9 public holidays per year.

At Changeworks, we welcome and encourage applications from everyone.
