Role
With You are recruiting for a Policy and Public Affairs Manager, to deliver the organisation's policy and public affairs strategy and day-to-day policy and public affairs activity in Scotland. This role will work closely with senior managers, the policy and public affairs team and other key stakeholders to meet the organisation’s goals and drive policy change. This role will join our brand new Marketing and Communications directorate, an innovative team of people who are committed to raising the profile of With You and connecting with our stakeholders in new ways. As part of this role, you will manage the development and delivery of evidence based policy research and policy positions, ensuring that this translates into valuable thought leadership and public affairs activities. Through your relationships with relevant ministers, parliamentarians, civil servants, policy makers, partner organisations and other external sector organisations, you will enable With You to influence the national policy agenda, helping to establish us as the go-to authoritative voice on all issues we work on. You will work with teams across the organisation to ensure that key policy and thought leadership outputs incorporate the insight of our staff and service users and that key messages are developed for our audiences. It is essential that you maintain a strong understanding of the Scottish policy landscape, by monitoring Scottish government and external policy and public affairs developments and providing expertise to the rest of the organisation on positioning and influencing opportunities.
The ability to think creatively and pragmatically is key for this role, along with demonstrable experience of producing engaging and relevant policy and public affairs content in a range of formats. You should possess strong research skills across a range of methodologies, along with an understanding of how to influence policy change, using both formal and informal routes. This is a busy team, with multiple priorities ongoing and huge plans for growth, so it’s important that you are highly organised and able to manage your time effectively. The postholder must be based in Scotland, with occasional travel required including overnight stays. A full job description is available on request.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline
- Ability to think creatively and pragmatically about policy at both big picture and detailed implementation levels
- Ability to produce engaging and relevant policy and public affairs content in a range of formats
- Strong research skills across a range of methodologies
- Understanding of how to influence policy change, using both formal and informal routes
- A good understanding of the drug, alcohol and health policy landscape in Scotland

About us
Express Group Fife is a well-established mental health charity operating in Fife for almost fifty years. We provide group activities for people over 18 experiencing poor mental health. The aim of the groups is to promote positive mental wellbeing by providing a safe place for sharing experiences and peer support.
There are currently 12 groups across Fife each week, supporting about 150 individuals during the year. Every person’s story is unique, and everyone’s route home is different - it doesn’t matter what the situation is – we’re not here to judge, only to help.
About the role

MHAP is one of the longest-running independent advocacy organisations in Scotland, and we are now recruiting a new team member to help expand our individual and collective advocacy services for people experiencing mental health challenges and/or addiction issues.
We provide advocacy support to adults aged 18–65 who live in West Lothian or are receiving treatment here. Our work takes place in a range of settings, including St John’s Hospital, HMP Addiewell, and various community locations, as well as home visits when required.
Individual advocacy involves working alongside people on a one-to-one basis to ensure their voices are heard and respected. We support individuals to understand their rights, make informed decisions, and have meaningful influence over matters that affect their lives.
Collective advocacy involves working with groups of people with lived experience to explore shared concerns, identify common themes, and influence service development, policy, and decision-making at a wider level.

We have an exciting leadership opportunity to join our South Services team as the Team Leader for the Scottish Borders Community Mental Health Team and the Midlothian Recovery and Justice Team. As Finance Manager you will oversee all aspects of financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data and reporting. Your responsibilities will include managing day-to-day finance activities, preparing fully accrued monthly management accounts for the board, and producing a trial balance with supporting evidence for the annual audit. You will also collaborate with external auditors to meet reporting requirements.
Additionally, you will collate payroll to issue to our external payroll provider, oversee pension contributions, and contribute to HR systems and records. You will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Trustees to ensure effective credit control and financial administration.
