Role
The Project Worker post offers a unique opportunity for someone who is committed to creatively utilising and developing their knowledge and skills in engaging with communities.
- Primarily they will support the delivery of a funded NHS ‘Positive Smoke Free Role Model Programme’, which is already established; to continue existing partner relationships; adhering to already agreed Activity Plans; and acting on recommendations from end of year report.
- There will be a focus on: cultivating strong relationships with local communities; third sector / public service partner organisations; local area networks; and teamwork.
Context: The Positive Smoke-Free Role Models (PSFRM) Community Development programme is funded by NHS Lanarkshire and developed, designed, and facilitated by ourselves to encourage individuals from specific areas of South Lanarkshire to pledge their support in becoming a recognised PSFRM through a Charter-style model by completing a range of activities – regardless of if they are a smoker or not. We use an asset-based community development approach to engage with members of the community to actively promote the vision of achieving a smoke-free Lanarkshire through the programme.
The role will also contribute to the overall strategic plan of Community Links helping to bring about social change, promoting positive health and wellbeing and to improve the quality of life in our local communities. This role offers the potential for a highly motivated individual to join our team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and support the Positive Smoke free role model project across South Lanarkshire
- Work with current contractual arrangements with NHS personnel to achieve the project outcomes, to capture and share their work and messages in new ways, using a range of multimedia:
- Work with people at all levels, building and maintaining links with strategic partners in all sectors to ensure plans are aligned and integrated with the project priorities.
- Monitor the project by attendance at strategic meetings, submitting general updates and reports.
- Create content for promotion on social media and target advertising.
- Conduct focus groups at community level, for example at schools / community groups.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and development and participate in any training opportunities.
- Adhere to Community Links Data Protection and GDPR polices and protocols.

Essentially You will have:
- Previous experience of community engagement processes and social media channels
- Enthusiasm, be self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
- Initiative to solve problems and raise potential issues
- Proficiency in Microsoft packages, including Teams
- Flexibility in your approach to work to meet changing service delivery needs, deadlines, and urgent priorities
- Work collaboratively to secure economic stability and sustainability
- Excellent communication skills, be a good listener, and work well with people at all levels with a positive approach to problem-solving and project development
- Consideration to the use of resources on the environment and act to minimise the impact
- A full driving license and have reasonable access to a car

Outreach Worker and Cycle Trainer

About Us
Recyke-a-bike (part of Fallin Community Enterprises) has been in operation since 2005. We began as a small recycling social enterprise that quickly grew into a job club, using bike recycling as work experience for our members. Over the years we’ve seen a lot of growth and now offer training services and cycling outreach work, in addition to our bike recycling and sales through our well stocked and modestly priced shop.
Purpose
To support the delivery of the Bikeability programme in partnership with Cycling Scotland and Stirling and Clackmannanshire local authorities. The Outreach Worker and Cycle Trainer will also support the delivery of all cycling-based activities delivered by Recyke-a-bike.
Responsibilities
Main:
- Delivery of Bikeability Training to Children.
- Delivery of Adult Cycle Training.
- Maintenance of bikes and equipment for each of the following fleets: Stirling, Clackmannanshire, EBike, Practical Cycle Awareness Training (PCAT) and Adult Cycle Training Fleets.
- Managing health and safety within area of responsibility.
- Carrying out risk assessments for Bikeability sessions.
- Planning, risk assessing and delivering other cycle related sessions, events and activities.
- External liason with third parties including schools, local councils, community groups and organisations, as well as charities and businesses.
- Attending team meetings.
- Attending continuous professional development (CPD) training.
Additional:
- Building bikes for the shop when not busy.
- Collecting bike donations for the shop.
- Deliver Doctor Bike services across the Forth Valley when required.
- Assisting other departments where needed.
- Any other reasonable duties consistent with working for a small charitable organisation.
Community Worker - Digital Inclusion

The Role of a Trustee
Our Trustees play a vital role in three key areas: Strategy, Governance and Risk Management.
You’ll work with the leadership team as a critical friend — supporting, questioning, and inspiring us to stay true to our mission while continuing to innovate and grow.
Each trustee also “adopts” one of our services or projects, acting as a link between the Board and front line staff. This helps Trustees stay connected to the people and communities we serve, and brings valuable insight back to board discussions.
Trustees with specific professional experience engage in one of our four subgroups – Finance, Governance, People, Enterprise.
Right now we’re particularly keen to add to the existing financial skills of our Board, ideally welcoming someone with Management Accounting expertise, especially within SMEs or social enterprises. Someone with experience of being a charity treasurer would be highly beneficial.
That said, we’d love to hear from anyone who shares our values and brings experience in areas like fundraising, communications, enterprise, wellbeing, or facilities management.
Do I have to live in Edinburgh?
Not at all! We welcome applications from potential Trustees living anywhere. However, there is a requirement to attend an in-person Board meeting in Edinburgh once every two months. Attendance online can be arranged under special circumstances.
Our Trustees fall into two categories:
- Local Trustees: People living in South West Edinburgh, or within three miles of EH11 3RH.
- Business Trustees: People who do not live locally who join the Board to offer specific skills, expertise or professional experience.
Your Commitment
We truly value your time and experience, and we keep the commitment meaningful but manageable:
- Board meeting every two months in Edinburgh (2hrs in person)
- Sub-group meeting every three months (60-90 mins online)
- Annual General Meeting in Edinburgh (90mins in person)
- One Trustee Strategy Building Day per year (5-6hrs in person
Trustee Induction & Training
We provide a comprehensive induction and ongoing training programme to support all trustees in their role. This includes sessions on our governance structure, key policies, finance & budgeting, health & safety, safeguarding, and an overview of our current projects and strategic priorities.
Trustees also take part in regular development sessions throughout the year.
All new trustees have the option to be buddied up with an existing trustee while they find their feet.
Remuneration/Expenses
This is an unpaid role, however reasonable expenses associated with the role may be reimbursed.
