Role

Do you want to work for an organisation that is passionate about young people living in disadvantaged communities overcoming barriers and making their aspirations a reality? Do you want to see the skills and potential that young people from some of the most disadvantaged areas of Glasgow can offer?

An exciting opportunity for a full-time Youth Worker to join our dynamic, fun, and flexible team has arisen.

theGKexperience is founded on the belief that all young people are brilliant, and that they all deserve the same opportunities to succeed. We journey alongside and offer support to young people who face long-term challenges due to poverty, disadvantage, and inequality in Glasgow and the wider area. Young people are supported in their local settings, with outdoor residential and wilderness experiences helping them to soar.

The Youth Worker will be responsible for collaborating with young people and young leaders to plan and deliver residential experiences, regular local community work, our award-winning young leaders programme and tailored personal support, including mentoring, home visits, support at school and multi-agency meetings.

Your role will help young people overcome barriers by increasing their confidence and skills to take new steps and make positive decisions, creating a strong voice towards decisions that impact them, building resilience against adverse childhood experiences, gaining leadership skills and increasing prospects, improving physical and mental health.

You will provide a positive role model to young leaders and young people, being aware of risk, safeguarding, personal and professional boundaries. The role will require a positive attitude, enthusiasm, leadership, teamwork and a spirit of adventure!
