Role

An exciting opportunity to work with us as Network Engagement Officer, Art and Diversity. This position offers a variety of projects delivering initiatives that encourage members of the public to utilise and enjoy the National Cycle Network.

The initial focus of the position will be on the delivery of the ArtRoots Programme, please explore the ArtRoots Funding for the National Cycle Network in Scotland. This will include administering a grant fund for the National Cycle Network, managing the budget, and sending contracts as part of guiding applications through the process. After projects are in place you will work with the monitoring team to track the impacts of the projects.

As the Network Engagement Officer: Art and Diversity, an example of some of the work you could be involved in are the Disability History Month events to take place along the National Cycle Network in Scotland. Within the position, you will also have the opportunity to support the volunteering team by engaging with communities to promote volunteering opportunities. Along with contributing to raising the profile of Sustrans, by representing the charity at meetings, activities, and events.

You will work alongside a team with a broad skill set in infrastructure and engagement. Through this position, you will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as Sustrans Network Delivery and Engagement Coordinators, Project Officers and community groups, and local Partners. This position also links closely with our Places for Everyoneteam

While reporting to the Network Engagement Art and Diversity Coordinator, you will be involved in the Art and Diversity Programme where through work with artists, public bodies, businesses, and community groups it thrives on delivering innovative artworks, interpretation, and other enhancements to the National Cycle Network.

This role will require travel and work at locations across Scotland as necessary to undertake project work on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be within traveling distance of the Sustrans office in Edinburgh or Glasgow with the flexibility to work from home.

About you

You should have experience of organising, publicising, and delivering engagement activities. Along with knowledge of working with volunteers and the promotion of walking, wheeling, and cycling with involvement in report writing.

You will be skilled in the ability to motivate and inspire others. With the ability to build relationships with ease across a wide range of people, creating partnerships with other organisations and communities.

Your experience using project management tools and systems to manage budgets and timekeeping, ensuring projects are delivered within agreed expectations will be an asset. While using your background understanding of small grants, administering funds or fund application processes.

An understanding of community arts with an interest in active travel would be beneficial. Focusing on key principles of Community Engagement through experience of working with communities in multiple areas.

We ask you to demonstrate your knowledge of community groups and skills of when you have engaged with the community through supporting to organise projects or events. With a focus on knowledge of public art as a form of community engagement. Many skills for this position can be transferable and we encourage you to highlight your suitability within your application.
