We have an exciting opportunity to work with us as Project Manager for the South team. You will be responsible for the management of projects within active travel behaviour change in multiple locations.
You will be working in collaboration with a supportive group of project managers. While line managing a group of six project officers, who focus on making a difference to individual travel behaviours and local communities.
You will also collaborate with the wider regional and national teams to develop Sustrans’ position as experts in delivery of place-based, people-centered active travel projects. Along with interesting opportunities to be involved in new business and services.
While contributing to overseeing work to remove barriers to active and sustainable modes of transportation. This plan will include projects involving practical engagement activities. With project reports and budget management required.
You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as partners in the local authorities, Sustrans Programme Manager and reporting to Head of Delivery, England South. Also, working closely with the Delivery team and other regional team members in Design & Engineering, Partnerships and Network Development.
This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects and meetings on behalf of Sustrans. We offer true hybrid working, a flexible mix of working from home and from Sustrans office based in Reading or Bristol (candidates should be based within these areas).
About you
You should show qualities of motivating a team and this is an opportunity to progress skills managing and leading a team both in-person and remotely. While building relationships with ease across the organisation and with external partners.
We ask you demonstrate your knowledge of sustainable transport policy locally and nationally. You should show experience working in programmes such as environmental, travel or community based.
Your experience of developing communications and marketing plans while producing reports, monitoring project delivery and budget will be an asset.
