Role

We now have a fantastic opportunity for you to use your passion for active travel at work and join our team! Within the Project Officer (Access to Bikes) position you will manage school bike loan schemes for Dumfries and Galloway schools, taking part in a scheme to provide access to free bikes for children.

Working with two schools to develop and maintain fleets of bikes and helping to run engagement events and produce materials, you will play a key part in the success of the project. You will be contributing to ensuing the equipment is distributed and maintained through assisting and supporting the delivery of cycle training (National Standards) led rides.

You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as schools, I Bike engagement, local authority, bikes suppliers and participants.

This role may require some travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. The main location will be within the Dumfries and Galloway.

About you

An excellent communicator, you will have experience of working with children and young people and partnership working within a community.

We encourage you to highlight experience working in schools, community or environmental project development and delivery. Along with bike maintenance training, with an understanding of local, and national safety guidance and risk assessments.

You will be skilled in the Delivery of National Standards Cycle training and managing own workload as part of a remote working team. We ask you demonstrate your knowledge of Bike Maintenance and outdoor first aid. With a focus on equipment and stock/asset management.
