Role
Bipolar Scotland is a truly inspiring charity, having spent almost 30 years striving to support those who live with bipolar. They do this by challenging stigma and discrimination whilst representing the views of people living with bipolar to politicians and health professionals. Bipolar Scotland hold a vision that everybody living with bipolar should be able to enjoy a good quality of life. This fantastic charity has extensive experience of minimising the impact of bipolar disorder through self-help groups and self-management training. In 2020, Bipolar Scotland introduced a Peer Support Initiative as another way of empowering people to improve their quality of life.
The organisation is peer led by those with lived experience, carers and supporters. The Board of Directors, elected by members at each AGM, is responsible for the governance of the organisation and directs the work of the staff team, which is responsible for the operational delivery. Currently, Bipolar Scotland has over 400 members who have helped to support in excess of 2,500 unique individuals. Through providing a safe place to people to share their experiences, thousands of people have been able to learn how to understand how bipolar affects them, how they can improve their lives and, most importantly, that they are not alone.
The new Fundraising Officer will play an integral part in maximising Bipolar Scotland’s income. The post holder will be involved in raising funds from community, corporate and other sources to further the work of Bipolar Scotland. The post holder will contribute the development and implementation of operation plans in support of the organisation’s strategic aims, to ensure income growth.
You will work closely with fundraising volunteers to help raise the profile of Bipolar Scotland across communities. Day to day you may be supporting with comms work, including social media, with a specific focus on providing fundraising stories or content, processing donations and gift aid claims. You may also be seen out and about in the community connecting with supporters or doing some research on community fundraising or trust and grants opportunities.
To be successful in this role, you will have a background in fundraising, whether this be in a voluntary or paid capacity. Due to this experience, you should have a good understanding of the Scottish fundraising landscape. You will be someone who thrives off connecting and speaking with supporters and members of the community. The ideal candidate will be confident in working towards fundraising targets and KPI’S. Who we are
Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. Our aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, we campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.
What you’ll do
Our Community Activities Organisers are vital in providing front line support. This includes:
- Supporting individuals to stay connected to their local communities, engage in their interests and hobbies, and access peer support.
- Developing ideas and leading the way towards exciting and new activities to promote brain health.
Our groups are community based and the Community Activities Organiser is responsible for the planning and delivery of all activities, ensuring reflective practice through our activity evaluations and feedback from the people we support.
What you’ll have
Successful applicants will have a positive approach to dementia and brain health, with a passion to make a difference. You will have good communication and computer skills, a caring attitude and most of all enthusiasm for the role. You will be confident in planning activities in advance and leading any volunteers supporting at your group.

You will support colleagues to develop creative, accessible, and engaging fundraising activities that empower supporters and ensure sustainable income for our services.

About the Role
As a Counselling Lead, you will manage the Counselling Support team and the service alongside the Head of Services. You will oversee the day-to-day running of the services whilst being responsible for managing all stakeholders involved.
You will also report on outcomes achieved and help promote and develop the services in your region. A skilled practitioner, you will have a good understanding and knowledge of counselling services and an understanding of the health and social care landscape. An empathic and motivating manager, you will be able to bring out the best in others by developing, guiding and supporting your team and enabling them to provide high-quality, person-centred counselling and support services.
The Counselling Lead will be responsible for line-managing and supervising staff and consultants who deliver specialist counselling support people affected by mental health issues, as well as their own caseload. This role includes developing and implementing an induction programme for counsellor roles, carrying out safe recruitment and providing high quality therapeutic support. The post-holder will take a trauma-informed approach and build a supportive and reflective culture, in line with Change Mental Health values. The Counselling Lead will work alongside both the local and national management team to contribute to the operational and strategic leadership of the local service, and of the overarching counselling programme that Change Mental Health are committed to developing.
