CIS is looking for a man with an understanding of the additional and specific human rights issues faced by black and minority ethnic women in Scotland, who speaks a West African language fluently, has experience of supporting human rights in Scotland or another country either through paid or voluntary work, and who is committed to tackling violence against women.
The aim of this post is to provide information on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and other forms of violence against women and girls, to men in specific BME communities in order to raise awareness among men in these communities of women and girls’ human rights and responsibilities, the consequences of FGM and other forms of violence against women and girls and to motivate men to combat all these forms of violence so that their prevalence and practice is reduced.
Community InfoSource has secured funding, from the Scottish Government’s Delivering Equally Safe fund and from the National Lottery Community Fund’s Improving Lives, for our Challenging Violence Against Women (CVAW) Project. This project aims to challenge all forms of violence against women and girls through working with men in communities affected by Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The post is for 21 hours a week for a year, from February 2023 and thereafter subject to funding.
Length of post: 1 year, then subject to further funding
