Role

At Bipolar Scotland we believe that everyone is the expert of their own experience, and that through shared experience and connection, there’s an opportunity to strengthen and develop ways of living well with bipolar.

We are seeking to expand our team of exceptional Peer Workers as we look to relaunch our peer support service for individuals who are living with bipolar. This project will sit alongside our Beyond Diagnosis service for people who have a new diagnosis, helping to ensure people with bipolar feel supported no matter what stage they are at.

As a Peer Worker, you will use your lived experience to build positive and meaningful relationships that feel mutually empowering. You will work collaboratively with peers to hone existing ways of coping and explore moving towards a more positive future. You will listen with curiosity and promote hope and optimism, helping peers to realize their potential and achieve their goals and aspirations.

You will connect with peers on a 1-1 basis, over telephone or by video. Where you live within a similar geographical area, there may be the opportunity to meet together in-person. The ideal candidates will have direct experience of living with bipolar and supporting others, as well as considerable knowledge broader mental health and wellbeing, mental illness, recovery, treatment and support.
