Role

EMMS International is a non-denominational Christian non-governmental organisation (NGO) that with partners in Malawi, India, and Nepal to improve health and healthcare there. We are now looking for a Treasurer join our team. This is a voluntary position where you will be attending 8 meetings per year.

As a Treasurer at EMMS International, your responsibilities will include:

  • Fulfilling the duties of a Trustee of a Scottish charitable company
  • Developing the strategy of the Charity and defining the path for sustainability and development of the organisation along with the Board, CEO, and the staff Leadership Team. Within this, the Treasurer particularly considers financial evidence and analysis.
  • Supporting the Director of Finance with the annual budgeting process and in reviewing management accounts presented to the quarterly Finance and Investments Committee (which are then presented to the Board of Directors). Chair and participate in the Finance, Audit, and Investment Committee.
  • Supporting the Director of Finance with supplier contract negotiations, policy development, management of banking relationships and others.

At EMMS International, we are looking for a Treasurer who has the following skills and experiences:

  • Qualified accountant preferred
  • Experience of financial management, ideally in a third sector organisation
  • Strong communication skills to enable clear articulation of finance issues to non-finance peers.

It is an occupational requirement working with EMMS International within the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 that the Treasurer is a practising Christian.
