Role
We are currently seeking an Education Service Manager to join the organisation on a one-year fixed-term basis. Working closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Education, the Education Service Manager will be responsible for managing a team of education support staff to ensure the highest quality learning experiences and outcomes for children placed at Harmeny, which is based on a highly relational and experiential model of learning. The postholder will manage and lead staff in ensuring the maintenance of a nurturing and supportive environment, in order to provide the secure base that children require to engage in their learning. They will also play a key role in supporting those aspects of the 24-hour curriculum that assist children in developing their social skills, as vital components of lifelong learning.
With the supervision and guidance of the Head of Education, the Education Service Manager will be responsible alongside the Deputy Head of Education, Service Managers (Residential) and Day Service Manager for the effective leadership, management and development of our core service, Harmeny School. These managers constitute the Harmeny School Management Team (HSMT), which is jointly chaired by the Head of Care and Head of Education.
The post-holder will play a role in the strategic direction and growth of the organisation, working closely with the other members of HSMT and the Senior Management Team (SMT), to maintain Harmeny's excellent provision and help us to implement our new services for young people up to the age of 18.

Senior Policy Lead (Challenging Public Debt Recovery)

- You can complete work from home or utilise a local office base but you may be required to travel to attend meetings. (Hybrid)

This is a full-time post working 37.5 hours per week. Hours of work can be worked flexibly although there may be a requirement for some work in the evenings or at weekends. There is a 5% unsocial hours allowance included in the salary to accommodate this expectation.

With funding provided from The Robertson Trust, we are looking to conduct a specific 3 year programme to focus on public sector debt and the impacts on low-income families.
What we are looking for...
You will collaborate with key stakeholders to explore the views and systems related to the recovery of public sector debt. You will use your research to engage with government nationally and locally to highlight the lived experiences of affected families, to seek fairer policies and commitments that help tackle child poverty.
You will help Aberlour plan and coordinate further campaigning work around the approach to public sector debt recovery.
You will have knowledge of the current Scottish political systems at a local and national level, particularly relating to social justice, anti-poverty and debt recovery policy areas. You will also have knowledge of key policy areas that impact on children and young people, such as the UNCRC and The Promise. You will have experience of writing policy briefings or papers or addressing informed and influential audiences.
