We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced practitioner with a deep knowledge and understanding of children’s learning and development as well as the challenges facing our families across our communities.

This rewarding role will support and coordinate a small childcare team within a childcare setting as well as provide support to individual children aged 0-3 years within their homes who have require support in their physical, social and emotional skills and are experiencing attachment difficulties such as separation anxieties.

As well as supporting individual children to reach their full potential, this role will enable parents to be individually supported to gain a better understanding of their children’s needs empowering them to improve their children’s development by using strategies and activities that they can incorporate within their daily lives.

This role will also support the Team Manager of the centre to develop a broad range of learning activities which are specific to the needs of vulnerable children and their families

Minimum Qualifications required are: HNC Childcare and Education, SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) , HNC Childhood Practice or relevant childcare qualification

AND

Minimum practice experience: 3 years’ in a similar role

A certificate in Food Handling and First Aid are also desirable.

Home-Start Edinburgh is a volunteer-led charity with over 35 years-experience working in local communities, supporting families with a child under 5 in the home. We are currently recruiting for the role of Family Support Co-ordinator. Whilst our Head Office is in Leith, the successful applicant will be required to support volunteers and families in one of Edinburgh’s four localities.

This role will be tasked will support families, predominantly through the network of volunteers they recruit, support and train. They will also be expected to contribute to the wider operation and further development of the scheme.

The post-holder will work with the other Family Support Co-ordinators, as well as other staff, to ensure families receive holistic, high quality support. They will contribute to the ongoing training and development of volunteers, including delivery of the Volunteer Prep course, as well as networking with other local organisations.

Our exciting programme enables children with complex disabilities to have new experiences and make new friends. At the same time, their families are enabled to have a crucial break to recharge and refresh their batteries enabling them to maintain the high level of support their children need when they return home from their short break. The Hub also provides holistic family support through a menu of services that support and complement direct support offered to children and young people. Working with the children is not a ‘quick fix’ but a long term endeavour supporting them to make small incremental change that over time becomes significant. The role is challenging but also immensely rewarding.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for two Full Time Young People’s Workers who, ideally, can bring their own experience and skills to complement those of our team. Full Time - Working 5 days out of 7, shifts over a 24 hour period 7 days per week, including sleepovers, evenings and alternate weekends. You will be enthusiastic, motivated and a caring individual who will contribute to the development of care and support plans, working in a child centred outcomes focused manner to ensure that children, young people and their families get the most out of their service. You will work closely with internal and external colleagues in a multi-agency approach to ensure that the holistic needs of children, young people and families are central to service provision. We are particularly looking for workers who have health care experience, knowledge and skills to support children and young people with complex health needs within their own homes.

We are looking to recruit a Lead Practitioner working a range of shifts including evenings, weekends and sleepovers in a residential child care setting. You will have the confidence to guide and direct the provision of care to the children and young people in the service. You will play a pivotal role, working in partnership with parents and families to meet the emotional and physical needs of children and young people with complex disabilities.

When on shift, you will play a lead role, mentoring and supporting staff and being a role model, delivering excellence in the services we provide. You will assist in assessing, planning and delivering services, taking responsibility for ensuring that assessment and interventions are prepared, monitored and evaluated in line with the children’s and young people’s goals.

Engaging positively with children, young people and families you will plan and implement appropriate support for the children and young people. Sensitive and accurate reporting is a key responsibility and so you will have good written communication skills and the ability to learn how to use effectively, Aberlour’s recording system: Dynamics.
