Our Black and Minority Ethnic Youth Service Heritage Youth service recognises the importance of lived experience and we openly invite applicants with experiences around cultural diversity and racism to apply as this will be highly valued in who we appoint to this role. The contract is funded by Young Start, a grants programme run by The National Lottery Community Fund and also by the Gannochy Trust and runs initially until September 2024, with the potential for renewal. As a Service Coordinator you will contribute to the direct service delivery with colleagues and young people from diverse backgrounds. The role involves working in Edinburgh to lead on our Heritage and Inclusion project, as well as the Scottish Borders (Galashiels and Earlston) to deliver a new initiative to support children, young people and families from Black Asian Ethnic Minority backgrounds with their emotional wellbeing.

About the Role:
Action for Children's emotional wellbeing and inclusion project in conjunction with Young Start Community Fund & The Gannochy Trust and Scottish Borders Council creates an opportunity to engage with children, young people and families from multi-cultural backgrounds living in Edinburgh and The Borders, promoting social inclusion, celebrating different cultures and history through engagement with sports, arts and music.
The project offers a trusting support network that will be a safe place to discuss challenges where staff can enable young people to develop new skills and community connections. As a Service Coordinator you will supervise staff and be crucial in implementing and developing our services across The Borders, as well as working alongside our practitioners, engaging with children, young people and families, individually and in groups developing agreed service plans working towards agreed outcomes.
