  • The post is for 12 months with an option to extend dependent on funding. The post- holder will work 16 hours per week on a self-employed contract at a rate of £16.50 per hour. This post forms part of a job share.

Role

Go Girvan: Community Led Tourism is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced individual to identify, develop and implement community led tourism projects in support of the organisation’s Tourism Action Plan

Key Tasks -

  • Support Go Girvan: Community Led Tourism to manage and deliver a range of projects that improve Girvan and its tourism offer
  • Develop new opportunities to enhance Girvan as a tourism destination
  • Identify, prepare and submit funding applications
  • Plan and deliver a range of events and festivals
  • Develop and execute engaging marketing campaigns
  • Create digital and social media content
  • Undertake relevant research to track, monitor and evaluate the performance and impact of tourism development initiatives
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community groups, statutory organisations and businesses
  • Attend regular meetings and networking events
  • General admin, report writing and financial record-keeping

Essential -

  • Good knowledge and enthusiasm for Girvan
  • Strong understanding of Community Led Tourism and tourism in general
  • Ability to manage and deliver a range of projects
  • Experience of completing funding applications
  • Excellent organisational skills, including ability to manage a varied workload, meet deadlines and work well as part of a team
  • High standard of computer literacy
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with stakeholders, individuals and organisations
  • Experience writing clear analytical reports and presenting briefings
  • Able to use own initiative to identify and develop new opportunities
  • Positive attitude, flexible, including the willingness to adapt to the needs of the project officer role

Desirable -

  • Strong working knowledge of creating social media campaigns and producing
  • follow up analytical reports
  • Experience writing blog posts and updating content on a Wordpress website
  • Experience developing and executing marketing campaigns
  • Knowledge of writing media and PR releases
  • Ability to design and develop promotional material
  • Qualification or relevant work experience in tourism

About Go Girvan: Community Led Tourism

GG:CLT is a two-tier Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organization (SCIO), with Board Trustees and a membership of 140+ community members. We started the project in 2021 and have since delivered a wide range of projects including a new tourism website (gogirvan.co.uk), new social media profiles, revamping and supporting the volunteer-led Tourist Information Point, commissioning a feasibility study for an Ailsa Craig Centre, undertaking an Accommodation Scoping Report, and creating and delivering Tattie Fest in 2022 and 2023.
