LAYC is recruiting a Project Worker to support the delivery of accredited learning and youth awards, with the network of community-based youth and children’s Member Groups within Edinburgh and the Lothians.

The post will be based at LAYC and will have a Lothian wide remit.

The post will be fixed for an initial period of 2 years at 18 hours per week on a salary scale of £26,788 - £30,751 pro rata, plus access to a 7% employers contribution pension.

Trustee opportunities

We are currently recruiting for Trustees to join our board from October 2024, with a particular interest in candidates with experience in the following areas:

• Marketing
• Fundraising

We are looking for candidates with Trustee/Board experience, who are committed to our values and in supporting young people in the community, with an understanding of the issues affecting them as well as the opportunities and challenges of the third sector landscape.

Role responsibilities

Duties/tasks for the year include:

• Attend 4 board meetings a year (quarterly)
• Attend or dial-in to 4 informal meetings with board members
• Contribute to a sub-groups that meets roughly 4 times - a team of staff and board members
• Attend 2 Development Days with staff and/or trustees (usually but not always a Saturday in Spring and Autumn)

Youth Vision is a children and young people's charity that provides a range of nature-based projects that aim to develop the skills and self-esteem necessary to support a healthy transition to adulthood. Our unique range of integrated services enable vulnerable young people to experience nature and personal growth in a safe and supported environment.

The Role:

Working alongside the Field Manager you will oversee all our various programmes and work in the office to support the running of the Charity.

You will have experience of project management and lead facilitation with vulnerable young people, staff, and volunteers in the outdoor environment. You will be involved in practical outdoor project delivery at Threipmuir Farm Steading and in the community. The role will also require good knowledge of relevant policies and procedures relating to working with vulnerable young people, communicating with clients and partner organisations, and updating social media.

Practical rural and horticulture skills would be an asset, as would previous experience of charity funding and grant applications.

You can have a mix of hybrid working from our office base in Balerno and from your home. As Balerno and our steading base are located rurally, you will need a full UK driving licence and access to a car.

Join our operations team leading on the delivery of our youth-led advocacy and co-ordinating support for young members who represent us externally.
