Role

Hanover has been supporting people in Scotland for over 40 years. We aim to provide desirable homes, have happy customers and be a resilient organisation. Key to this aim is the continuous development of our critical Telecare services and we are currently looking for exceptional people to join our expanding team.

If you’re interested in working for one of the leading housing and support providers in Scotland in an exciting and varied role, please read on!

What is Telecare?

Telecare is a technology-based remote monitoring service which supports our customers to live independently at home. With the telecare service, our customers know that help is available 365-days a year, 24-hours a day should ever they need it.

For over thirty-five years, Hanover have been providing Telecare and emergency repairs services to our own tenants across our housing developments in Scotland, as well as to customers of other housing associations, Local Authorities and charities across the country.

In total, we cover around 40,000 properties across Scotland and handle over 1.5 million calls per year. We couldn’t achieve this without the fantastic work and commitment of our people.

About the Role

We are looking for Telecare Operators to join our existing, multi-skilled team who support customer calls through our monitoring system. In this role, you will be answering Telecare and repairs calls, determining the reason for the call and taking appropriate action, in line with our robust suite of procedures. On a daily basis you will be faced with potentially life-threatening situations such as fires, medical emergencies and property damage, so this is a really important role, and a very rewarding one too.

What binds our Telecare team together is a customer-focussed, ‘health and wellbeing first’ approach and any new additions to our team will be driven by the same values. The team are friendly and inclusive, and in continual contact, providing guidance and support.

The Telecare Operator role offers 34.9 hours per week on average, following a roster which includes early shift, back shift and night shift, working 5 days on, and 3 or 4 days off.

As this is a hybrid role, you must be able to work from home professionally and handle calls continuously throughout your shift.

About You

You might not come from a Telecare or call centre background, but we do look for the following attributes:

  • A genuine passion to provide care, help and support for people.
  • Resilience matched with a proactive and understanding approach.
  • Strong, clear and effective communication skills.
  • Active listening skills
  • Empathy with people and the ability to build rapport during difficult situations.
  • Agility, flexibility and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Good ICT skills
  • A strong and stable internet connection at home (contractually required to perform this role).
  • Hold right to live and work in the UK status without sponsorship.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!

Benefits

Aside from offering a supportive and friendly environment where our people are valued and appreciated, we’ll see that your hard work and drive to succeed are rewarded through:

  • Flexible working and a Hybrid Working Model.
  • Full induction and training programme delivered by our in-house trainers.
  • Continued, on-the-job training to ensure full competence in the role.
  • Health and Wellbeing support networks including Mental Health First Aiders and a 24/7 GP helpline.
  • Access to our new Hanover Perks platform which includes high street discounts, health cash plan and fuel card.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Family friendly policies.
  • Working in a rewarding role within a friendly and open environment.
