Role

The STAR Centre: Ayrshire’s Rape Crisis Centre, was established over 30 years ago and works across Ayrshire. The support worker post is an exciting addition to the team, allowing us to work with young people and adults who have experienced any type of sexual violence.

What we are looking for. You will already have or be working towards:

  • Ability to deliver direct one to one support to children aged 13-17 who have experienced trauma, and ideally experience of working with survivors of rape, historic childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault.
  • Ability to deliver direct support to adults (of all genders) who have experienced trauma.
  • Ability to design and deliver group support sessions for survivors of trauma.
  • An understanding of the impacts of sexual violence on individuals and their families
  • Outstanding listening skills.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, coupled with the ability to manage own diary, prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to own continuing professional development.
