Role

Are you an experienced mental health worker interested in working for an award-winning Scottish charity?

Change Mental Health have two vacancies in the Thrive Welcome Teams in Edinburgh, one in the Southeast and one in the Northeast locality.

The Senior Support Workers in the Thrive Welcome Teams undertake short-term focused work with a wide range of people. They help people to identify what is important to them and the steps they can take to manage their mental health and wellbeing. The workers connect people into community services, treatment options and self-management resources as appropriate.

They work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team and Peer Workers within the locality and develop positive working relationships with other Health and Social Care colleagues, the wider third sector and community organisations in the city. They contribute to the overall development of the Thrive vision, ensuring that the service is accessible and visible and meets the needs of the local community.

We are seeking someone who is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of people in the city and who can work in close partnership with statutory and voluntary partners, using an asset-based approach. The successful candidate will be adept at helping people to identify their personal outcomes, and they will be able to quickly build collaborative working relationships with individuals from varied backgrounds.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking someone who has direct experience of supporting people with their mental health, including people living with complex issues. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an ability to assist people to develop their own recovery plans, whilst assessing and managing risk appropriately.

You should be able to evidence partnership working and bring a sound knowledge of the Edinburgh health and social care landscape. You should also be willing to embrace a culture of shared learning and reflection to bring creative solutions to the team.

As this is a senior post with a great deal of responsibility, you should have a SVQ Level 4 or equivalent qualification, and a track record of managing a caseload and meeting administrative deadlines with minimal supervision. This post is subject to membership of the PVG Scheme and appropriate checks.

We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities, which benefit the individual and the charity, and we are a “Happy to Talk Flexible” employer.

If you are passionate about assisting Change Mental Health to deliver a valuable service to the people of Edinburgh and feel your profile matches the criteria, then we want to hear from you!
