Role

Introducing Community Renewal Trust

Community Renewal is a dynamic and innovative organisation at the cutting-edge of work towards ending persistent poverty in Scotland.

Community Renewal TRUST

Community Renewal Trust is a social enterprise and registered charity that works to build community, improve quality of life, and alleviate poverty by engaging individuals and families and supporting them to achieve sustainable employment, improved health and to become more involved in their community.

Community Renewal delivers the successful Govanhill Roma Youth Project (GRYP), helping Roma young people flourish by listening to them, and supporting them on their terms.

GOVANHILL ROMA YOUTH PROJECT

GRYP is a project where young people and youth workers collaborate to organise a range of opportunities for Roma young people to take action on their interests, needs and concerns. Young people meet up, share ideas, and create projects, so there has always been something new going on. It is a place for young people to express their feelings, thoughts, and opinions, be listened to, gain confidence and a voice. We work with small groups, individuals, and large numbers, in community buildings, schools, young people’s homes and through detached work.

The GRYP 2024 Project has been funded for 2 years by The National Lottery Community Fund Young Start programme and will enable Roma young people to run and manage their own project through learning relevant skills and knowledge and gaining practical experience. The project will recruit young Roma trainees and volunteers to learn youth work skills to work alongside existing and new members to enable them to run their own groups, and ultimately GRYP. Through this project young people will be able to research options to transform GRYP into a young person led project, and thus realise their dreams.
