Background information

The Welcoming Association is a charity that works with New Scots (asylum seekers, refugees and migrants) in Edinburgh. We won the 2021 Ashden Award for Greener Communities, and three of our volunteers also won prestigious prizes at the Inspiring Volunteer Awards 2021. At the five-year strategic review in February 2024, the staff acknowledged some of the organisation’s many strengths, such as being cooperative, close-knit, flexible, and dedicated to its employees. Purpose of the role

The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and have overall responsibility for the quality of our training and employability provision. These programmes aim to support The Welcoming Association's New Scot service users in accessing work, volunteering, and training opportunities that match their skills, qualifications, and interests. The post holder will provide individual coaching and guidance for The Welcoming Association’s service users and manage three project coordinators. They will also assist with the planning, delivery, and evaluation processes of the programmes they manage and other activities the organisation provides.

Edinburgh Young Carers is seeking a suitably experienced and qualified applicant to co-ordinate our awareness-raising, training and support to schools and Higher Education (HE)/Further Education (FE) establishments across Edinburgh, with the aim to develop whole-school, sustainable approaches in the identification of, and support to, young carers.

The post-holder will promote, manage and develop ‘We Care: Schools for Young Carers’ award to schools across Edinburgh, and nationwide (funding dependent), and will work in partnership with Capital Carers and Space to ensure consistent delivery of schools and HE/FE work across the four localities of the City.

The candidate will need to be experienced in working with children and young people in formal or informal education settings, with experience of project set-up, management and reporting and in developing and delivering presentations and running training events/workshops for young people and professionals.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Regional Family Support Team to ensure the delivery of high-quality support to people who are living across the East of Scotland who have a family member in prison.

Our Regional Manager will:

• Lead a team of staff and social work students to provide 1:1, family work in family homes, community venues, prison, and/or prison visitor centres.
• Liaise and contribute to key local and community forums such as Community Planning Partnerships, Third Sector Interface meetings, or Local Authority partners’ meetings.
• Create and develop a range of support services to meet the local need across the East of Scotland.
