The team

This role will join Energy Saving Trust’s Group Marketing and Communications team. We are responsible for:

  • Getting our energy saving message out to consumers
  • Growing and developing our brand and reputation
  • Influencing consumers’ behaviour with marketing and communications campaigns
  • Influencing UK government policy through PR, thought leadership and speaking opportunities
  • Driving people to our energy saving advice through our digital channels
  • Collaborating and partnering with relevant stakeholders to address the climate emergency.

Our experienced, skilled team of around 40 people meets regularly and effectively collaborates. We’re professional, we strongly encourage Continuing Professional Development and training and we’re very supportive.

The role

Do you want to develop your marketing skills in a busy and supportive environment, whilst helping people to create warmer homes, reduce their energy bills, and lower their carbon footprint? We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Assistant to join our Home Energy Scotland team.

You’ll provide digital and traditional marketing support, including content creation and administrative support – focusing on the delivery of the Home Energy Scotland programme; Scotland’s leading free and impartial energy advice service. As part of Energy Saving Trust’s wider marketing and communications team, you’ll work with marketing professionals and energy experts to deliver your role at what is a crucial time for householders.

What you’ll do

  • You’ll support the marketing team to implement annual marketing communications plans and assist with day-to-day tactical marketing activity
  • You’ll create content for and monitor our social media channels
  • You’ll assist with creating and editing website content such as news stories, blog posts and case studies
  • You’ll create, schedule, and help optimise email campaigns
  • You’ll support with collateral development, events and general administrative tasks

What you’ll bring

  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational and communication skills
  • Writing and editing experience for social media, with the ability to turn complex issues into succinct, compelling content
  • An ability to work using your own initiative and manage and prioritise a busy workload
  • It would be desirable (but not essential) to have digital marketing experience and knowledge, including experience of using website content management systems, social media monitoring platforms, email marketing software and experience in using design and basic video editing tools such as InDesign, Canva and Biteable.

This is a permanent, full time position. Our standard weekly hours are 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday. As standard we offer all contracts on blended (home and office-based) working.
