As part of the investment in our mission we are seeking a user experience designer. This new role has been created to support our strategic objective of accelerating our progress towards becoming a digitally led organisation.
The team
An exciting opportunity to become part of Energy Saving Trust’s customer experience team. With the customer at the heart of everything we do, we are dedicated to understanding and continuously improving all things customer experience across all of Energy Saving Trust’s activities.
The role
We are looking for a user experience (UX) designer to establish and embed UX processes across the organisation, champion usability, establish measurement methods, design and conduct user research and provide UX expert advice and training to colleagues.
You will have the ability to develop strategic plans for UX and oversee and facilitate consistency in approach to UX across the business.
In this role, you should have an analytical and creative mindset with a high degree of creativity, empathy, passion and problem-solving ability. A strong portfolio of successful UX and other technical projects is essential.
What you’ll do
- Establish organisational UX processes, procedures and tools in line with our objective to be digital-first and support teams to ensure processes are consistently applied.
- Champion usability to embed UX practice throughout the organisation to ensure our services are accessible, meet customers’ needs and that high levels of satisfaction are achieved for our digital customer advice channels.
- Establish metrics and tools to enable us to measure whether our projects are delivering the intended results.
- Design and conduct user research and interpret user research and translate this into our digital service design.
What you’ll bring
- Proven user experience leadership skills including ability to promote and embed UX throughout the company and interpret vision to lead on decisions.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams that deliver, with ability to create a collaborative environment, moderate conflict resolution within teams and give and receive constructive feedback.
- Proven analytical skills, with ability to gather and analyse information, and able to think strategically.
- Strong communication skills with ability to make complex and technical information clear and accessible for non-technical audiences and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- User focus with ability to identify and understand users, engage meaningfully with them, translate user stories and propose design approaches or services to meet these needs.
- Understanding of how the digital economy is changing user behaviour and of advances in technology including methods and tools.
This is a permanent position. Our standard weekly hours are 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.
This will need to be a full-time role. We are open to flexible working locations (within Great Britain) and as standard we offer all contracts on blended (home and office-based) working.

Circular Economy Policy Officer

Circular Communities Scotland is a network membership organisation, dedicated to supporting the establishment of a thriving circular economy in Scotland. We support and represent repair, reuse and recycling charities and social enterprises across the country. Our members prevent valuable products and materials from entering landfill, create local jobs, economic opportunities, and help promote and create social and environmental justice in their communities.
This is a new role for the organisation and the Circular Economy Policy Officer will be responsible for:
- Developing and overseeing Circular Communities Scotland’s core circular economy policy positions.
- Promoting our reuse manifesto in the run up to the Scottish Elections in May 2026 including running a hustings style event.
- Running a post-election campaign targeting Members of Scottish Parliament (MSPs), our membership and wider stakeholder organisations.
- Working with Scottish Government to see key policy asks enacted.
- Working with our membership to involve them in our policy work.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a strong candidate who has a minimum of two years’ experience in a policy formation or campaigning role at a national level. The candidate will be able to quickly get up to speed with our circular economy policy positions and indeed develop these positions further. An ability to network and build relationships with civil servants and elected representatives is also important.
We require a dynamic and proactive individual who will be capable of planning, launching and sustaining a policy campaign to support our Reuse Manifesto. We are expecting candidates to have strong communication and interpersonal skills along with a proven track record in managing multiple delivery workstreams.

The committee oversees our activities in Scotland, helping to ensure that walking is accessible, enjoyable, and open to all.
This is a strategic and advisory role — there is no operational decision-making responsibility. You’ll collaborate closely with fellow volunteers and staff to help shape our campaigns, policies, and priorities, aligning your leadership with the organisation’s refreshed strategy — which emphasises removing barriers to walking, improving access for under-represented communities, and safeguarding natural spaces.
This volunteer role also provides an excellent career development opportunity — offering experience in governance, strategic planning, and leadership within a national charity.
This is a national volunteer role that involves quarterly in-person meetings, with occasional ad hoc sub-committee meetings (often online). While the role is unpaid, reasonable expenses (e.g. travel and subsistence) will be reimbursed.
