As part of the investment in our mission we are seeking a user experience designer. This new role has been created to support our strategic objective of accelerating our progress towards becoming a digitally led organisation.

The team

An exciting opportunity to become part of Energy Saving Trust’s customer experience team. With the customer at the heart of everything we do, we are dedicated to understanding and continuously improving all things customer experience across all of Energy Saving Trust’s activities.

The role

We are looking for a user experience (UX) designer to establish and embed UX processes across the organisation, champion usability, establish measurement methods, design and conduct user research and provide UX expert advice and training to colleagues.

You will have the ability to develop strategic plans for UX and oversee and facilitate consistency in approach to UX across the business.

In this role, you should have an analytical and creative mindset with a high degree of creativity, empathy, passion and problem-solving ability. A strong portfolio of successful UX and other technical projects is essential.

What you’ll do

  • Establish organisational UX processes, procedures and tools in line with our objective to be digital-first and support teams to ensure processes are consistently applied.
  • Champion usability to embed UX practice throughout the organisation to ensure our services are accessible, meet customers’ needs and that high levels of satisfaction are achieved for our digital customer advice channels.
  • Establish metrics and tools to enable us to measure whether our projects are delivering the intended results.
  • Design and conduct user research and interpret user research and translate this into our digital service design.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven user experience leadership skills including ability to promote and embed UX throughout the company and interpret vision to lead on decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams that deliver, with ability to create a collaborative environment, moderate conflict resolution within teams and give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Proven analytical skills, with ability to gather and analyse information, and able to think strategically.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to make complex and technical information clear and accessible for non-technical audiences and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • User focus with ability to identify and understand users, engage meaningfully with them, translate user stories and propose design approaches or services to meet these needs.
  • Understanding of how the digital economy is changing user behaviour and of advances in technology including methods and tools.

This is a permanent position. Our standard weekly hours are 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.

This will need to be a full-time role. We are open to flexible working locations (within Great Britain) and as standard we offer all contracts on blended (home and office-based) working.
