About the role

This is a great opportunity to work for a national children’s charity leading an excellent, committed team and helping ensure that we are at the cutting edge of best policy and practice in the children’s sector. As a member of the Leadership Team, you will play a part in shaping the overall direction of the organisation as we fulfil our commitments laid out in our Strategic Plan and our Manifesto. You will be able to come to work every day, knowing that you are doing your very best to try and make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people across Scotland.

As the head of our Policy, Projects and Participation department, you will help Children in Scotland excel in its participation practice and share our learning across the children’s sector. You will lead on policy development for the organisation, making sure that the voice of children and young people sit at the heart of our policy positions. You will build strong relationships with policy makers and shapers in the public, private and third sectors, influencing policy making at the highest levels.

You will lead your team and support them to deliver their work to the highest standard, making sure a rights-based approach is embedded across all our work.

We are seeking a good leader and strategic thinker, who is passionate about the work of Children in Scotland and its vision and values. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to build positive relationships both internally and externally.
