Role
Children 1st is looking for a highly experienced and transformational HR professional to lead and implement our People and Culture strategy. As a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, you will support our ambitions to have the best quality people delivering the greatest impact in the lives of children and families in Scotland. About the role
This is a strategic leadership role within one of the most respected children’s charities in Scotland. Working with other high performing leaders you will be responsible for developing, leading and implementing our people and culture strategy and will provide inspirational leadership to the team.
About you
You will have substantial experience of working and leading human resources in a complex and dynamic environment. A brilliant leader, you will have a strong track record of motivating others to deliver excellent outcomes and impact. You will be a driver of innovation and transformation projects with an understanding of how to build positive and effective cultures.
You will:
- Have extensive knowledge and understanding of the people agenda in the social care and charity sector
- Have strong understanding and experience of strategies and action plans to ensure Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and will help drive our ambition to become an anti-racist organisation where everyone belongs
- Have Excellent knowledge and application of employment law
- Have Understanding of national strategies and workforce priorities affecting social care
- Be Resilient and calm when under pressure – modelling a clear and accountable approach to leadership
- Be an outstanding communicator
- Driven and enthusiastic and able to motivate and develop a professional team

Your new opportunity
We are currently recruiting a Director of Finance & Corporate Services to join our well-established Executive Team. As a key member of the Executive Team, you will direct Quarriers’ finance, IT and property services. You will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our £60m budget, including financial reporting and planning, while liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
A key part of the role will include reporting to the Board of Trustees and Chief Executive, offering strategic advice and solutions on all finance and corporate services matters, and to support the Board in the preparation of budgets and financial reports.
This is a full-time permanent role working 35 hours per week in line with our agile working policy, which blends home-working with office time and service visits.
What you will need to bring to the role
- CCAB Qualified Accountant
- Extensive knowledge and experience at a senior level in a complex organisation
- Proven experience of contract negotiation and commercial focus
- Excellent problem solver who is driven by positive outcomes
- Chartered Accountant status or post-graduate management qualification is desirable
- Excellent IT and analytical skills
- Driving licence is essential

We are looking for a permanent therapist and a freelancer to join our Therapy Centre Team. We are open to considering a range of accredited therapists - art, music, drama, filial, play. Scottish Adoption and Fostering is an established voluntary sector provider of specialist adoption services. We have built our reputation on the delivery of high quality and innovative services based on best practice. This is an exciting time to join the Agency as we expand our work to include a mainstream fostering service.
The permanent role is for 18 hours a week and will involve some travel to work with children and families within a 60-mile radius of our Edinburgh Office. We want to take a flexible approach so if there are therapists who can commit to a set number of hours a week that are fewer than 18 hours we would love to hear from you.
The freelance role is primarily to work with families in Glasgow and the West of Scotland, again we are flexible and could vary the number of hours for the right candidate.
