Role

Would you like to work within an innovative and engaging organisation that is working towards bettering the lives of others through cycling?

Cycling UK is proud to represent the voice of its 70,000+ members and many more to ensure everyone can realise a better world by bike. We have a loud voice to lobby government, campaign for improved rights and inspire millions more people to cycle. We know that within our community, the way in which individuals want to engage with us is broad. For many it’s as simple as maximising the benefits of our membership to get the most out of their time on their bike but for some, it’s also about giving back, and creating the right conditions for other people to thrive on their bikes for future generations.

The role

Cycling UK believes that cycling enriches people’s lives and is an essential ingredient in happier, healthier communities. Our mission is to enable millions more people to cycle, and our development projects across Scotland are a vital part of achieving that mission. The Dunoon Bothy will work with local communities and existing projects to promote walking, wheeling and cycling and to provide additional opportunities to help people get active and mobile.

The Bothy aims to create positive change to the way people travel, perceive and use the place they live and visit. The Bothy does this by taking a place-based focus on walking, wheeling and cycling, by raising awareness of accessible routes, increasing confidence of people’s travel journeys and local knowledge and offering a space for community to share feedback and suggestions on the place around them.

The Dunoon Bothy will be based at a visible and accessible location in Dunoon. This project is funded by Argyll and Bute Council and Paths for All Smarter Choices, Smarter Places Open Fund.

As a cycling development officer, you will be tasked to create a network for everyday walking, wheeling and cycling around Dunoon and Argyll whilst creating and maintaining a series of events and activities to support this.
