Role

Women’s Aid are seeking additional Trustees to join our Board. This is a unique opportunity for women dedicated to our vision and feminist values to join our committed and highly skilled Board of Trustees and contribute to our future direction. We are looking for creative and innovative women who complement our existing leadership.

We are committed to representing a diversity of voices on our board and welcome applications from women from under-represented groups such as carers, disabled women, women from ethnic minority backgrounds and LGBTI people.

About Us

Scottish Women’s Aid is a leading voice in working to end domestic abuse. We play a vital role in coordinating, influencing and campaigning for effective responses to domestic abuse. We are the umbrella organisation for 34 autonomous Women’s Aid groups delivering direct services to women, children and young people across Scotland. We work collaboratively with our network towards a shared vision of Scotland where domestic abuse is not tolerated.

  • Active contribution towards strategic planning activities

What is involved

  • Share responsibility for setting strategic direction, agreeing policy and ensuring sound governance practice
  • Prepare for and attend quarterly Board meetings and AGM
  • Participate in short-life working groups to progress particular areas of the Board's work such as impact, fundraising strategy, staff engagement
  • Much of the Board's business will be conducted electronically and you will be expected to have regular access to email/ online meeting software.

  • Undertake a variety of training and development opportunities - recent training for Trustees has focused on feminist governance, contributions analysis and building an anti-racist vision at SWA
  • You will be fully reimbursed for all out of pocket expenses, including travel
