  • 35 hours per week. Contract Length: to end June 2024 with expectation to run to 31 March 2025, (subject to continuation funding). Annual Leave: 37 days per year including public holidays. Responsible to: Heart, Mind & Soul Project Manager.

Role

Who are we

Heart, Mind & Soul is a volunteer project based at Silverburn Park in Leven. Volunteers give their time to help us maintain the Walled Garden and 27 acres of mixed woodland. They are vital to keeping Silverburn beautiful. In return they will learn new skills, enjoy socialising with each other and hopefully feel a sense of achievement in giving their time to their community. Tasks include the removal of invasive species and weeds, planting trees and shrubs, litter-picking and much more.

What’s the Job

As the horticulture project lead, you will work with volunteers to regenerate the walled garden, and wider areas of Silverburn Park Estate. You’ll have experience and knowledge of ornamental gardening and a wealth of experience in community horticulture. You’ll organise and supervise the volunteers doing practical tasks throughout the park. Working closely with the Volunteer Progression Officer (VPO), you will support volunteers in their progression towards qualifications through SQA, John Muir and other awards.

Delivering activities which will help implement the overall Park master-plan, Conservation Management Plan and Urban Woodland Management Plan supported by individual and group volunteers, peer supporters, local community members and partnership organisations
