This is an exciting new role for a confident and enthusiastic Development Officer to help us bring young people front and centre of our Young Start funding programme.
Working as part of a small project team, you will help to develop our approaches to advice, assessment, decision-making, grant management and learning, adopting a co-production approach with young people where possible.
Your planning and organisational skills as well as your ability to work flexibly will be key. You will build good working relationships internally across a range of business functions and externally with young people and organisations supporting young people. This will include reaching out to new and diverse groups, promoting meaningful participation of young people in the Young Start programme and adapting your communication and facilitation styles to engage a range of audiences.
You will be able to communicate clearly and concisely your recommendations about who and what we fund. Your natural curiosity combined with a genuine interest in young people will enable you to trial new approaches and develop your understanding of what works.
You will be comfortable sharing learning with colleagues and stakeholders both within and outside the Fund, influencing future work so that we can ensure meaningful participation and co-production with young people.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference in this arena through our funding. Whether through lived or gained experience you will demonstrate understanding of and commitment to key issues of interest and concern to young people in Scotland.
Some occasional out of hours working may be required at the evening or on the weekend to support young people to be effective contributors to the project.
We will support the successful candidate to apply for a PVG certificate if they don’t already have this.
