Do you understand alcohol and other drugs related harm and experience of working with vulnerable people?

If this is you, we have an exciting opportunity in North East Edinburgh for an experienced Lead Practitioner in the field of Alcohol and Other Drugs. This full time role has the flexibility to work Monday to Friday with the occasional evenings.

About You

As our Lead Practitioner, you will be working within the service delivery times of Monday to Friday. Working with the Service Manager and the Service Coordinator to direct and manage the day to day operations within the Edinburgh Service by delivering an advanced level of social care support including taking responsibility for service delivery and development which includes providing line management support to the staff team.

Join us as our experienced Lead Practitioner where you will be offering harm reduction advice and interventions to some of the most vulnerable and high-risk people who use drugs. These individuals may have had multiple non-fatal overdoses and are not currently engaged with treatment and or support services.

You will be passionate and committed and be creative in ways of engaging people, including home visits (alongside a colleague) offering support in the community. Making a difference to people’s lives, you will continue providing support until they are able to engage in more structured support within the hub.

North East Edinburgh Recovery Hub

The North East Recovery Hub offers a full range of drug and alcohol treatment and support services. We are a multi - disciplinary team comprising of Voluntary Sector, NHS and social work staff. We are based with our main office in Leith and working across our satellite location in Craigmillar.

Leith & Craigmillar

You will be making assessments of people who drop in and carrying out assessments as a key worker and making referrals and managing your own case load. Based in Leith but also covering the satellite location in Craigmillar at the

East Neighbourhood Centre.

We understand that everybody’s experience is different. When people come to our North East Edinburgh Recovery Service, we personalise their care to achieve their goals.

As our Lead Practitioner, you will have knowledge and experience of drug and alcohol related harm and treatment options. You will be responsible for being first point of contact carrying out initial assessment building trusting relationships and ongoing keyworker support with communication an essential part of the role. You will also be expected to provide Assertive Outreach to individual’s homes, GP practices and across multiple community settings in the North East of Edinburgh.
