About the role
As the Sustrans Senior Project Officer, you will build and manage internal and external relationships, including with key people within one of the Councils and other organisations working in the active travel sector, in the development of a transformative active travel strategy and infrastructure.
Your day-to-day duties will be advised by the Local Authority, with line management provided for you by the Partnerships Manager at Sustrans Scotland.
You will provide support in the development and delivery of active travel policies and proposals, including and not limited to the Council’s Active Travel Strategies; working across council departments and in partnership with external organisations, to consolidate cooperation amongst participants and delivery partners, to identify, develop and prioritise opportunities for investment in active travel.
Candidates should be based within one of the geographical areas with regular travel expected.
About you
You should have experience of and be able to build relationships with ease. You will proactively engage with affiliated agencies and local authorities, to develop and promote strategies, proposals, and projects on the ground.
To be effective in this role, you should have knowledge of transport policy and strategy, active travel development, urban development or sustainable transport. It would be advantageous if you have a knowledge of how local authorities / public sector organisations work.
In this dynamic role, you will have the ability to juggle multiple projects and work with efficiency and flexibility.
You should be an excellent communicator to facilitate writing bids and applications for funding opportunities and wider community engagement.
